3. Ravi Bishnoi
Another U19 WC alumnus, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi from Rajasthan is expected to take on the experienced batting line-ups of other teams and still come out on top. The 20-year-old leggie from Jodhpur made the headline after his exploits in U19 World Cup 2020, where he turned out to be the highest wicket-taker scalping 17 wickets in six matches. He was highly economical and was the last hope for Indians to win the final before completing his quota of overs.
In Kings XI Punjab, he is expected to play an important role after the departure of their lead spinner and captain from last season, Ravichandran Ashwin. Kings XI don’t have a highly experienced wrist-spinner in their squad, which strengthens his cause. He will get a lot of help from pitches in UAE and if he hits it off, he may make life difficult for the batsmen facing him.
He didn’t get much chances in the limited-overs domestic games this season. He scalped eight wickets from six matches and six wickets from equal number of games in List-A and T20s respectively. Under the guidance of ace leg-spinner Anil Kumble, he can become a potent weapon for the Mohali-based team.
