IPL 2020: BCCI announces schedule for the playoffs; first qualifier to be played on November 5

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is approaching the business end. The race between the eight teams to make it to the top four of the points table has intensified with the likes of Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC) almost likely to seal the top three spots. However, as usual, the fourth spot is still up for grabs with all bottom five teams gunning for it (CSK is mathematically alive).

Meanwhile, with only a handful of matches left in the league stage, the BCCI has announced the schedule of the much-awaited playoffs. SRH and MI will face-off in the last league game of the season on November 3 in Sharjah. The top two teams in the points table will then travel to Dubai to play the first qualifier on November 5 while the third and fourth placed sides will face each other in Abu Dhabi the next day.

The second qualifier then will be played on November 8 in Abu Dhabi while the title clash is set to take place in Dubai on November 10. Sharjah won’t be hosting any playoff game this season as Women’s T20 Challenge will be played at the venue.

In the meantime, along with the playoffs, the Women’s T20 Challenge will also take place with three teams battling it out in a total of four matches. The opening match of this tournament will be played on the rest day in the IPL on November 4 while the second match will take place in the afternoon with the first IPL qualifier to take place in the evening. The third match of T20 Challenge and final are set to be held on November 7 and 9 respectively.

As far as the IPL is concerned, the teams are battling it hard at the moment and it will be interesting to see which side sneaks into the playoffs at the fourth place.

November 6 – Eliminator; Abu Dhabi- 7:30 PM

November 8 – 2nd Qualifier; Abu Dhabi – 7:30 PM
