Yet another Karnataka boy makes it to this team. Padikkal has impressed fans and critics with his impeccable performances at the top for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has easily been RCB’s best batsman this season. He has scored 174 runs in four innings at an average of 43.50 and a strike-rate of 134.88, with three half-centuries.

Padikkal has played a crucial role in all three wins for RCB this season. He set the tone for a perfect start to the season with a 42-ball 56 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He missed out in the clash against Punjab, but he came back strong with consecutive half-centuries against Mumbai and Rajasthan.

His consistency is the major reason why he has been considered over other veteran openers. He has had a positive impact in all the wins for the Challengers, and his partnerships with Australian captain Aaron Finch have set up the entire game for RCB consistently. He also brings a left-right hand option to the table, having been the best left-handed opener this season.
