IPL 2020: CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo ruled out; to fly back home soon
Bravo took six wickets in as many matches this season.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are more or less out of the playoff race with four matches still to go in the league stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). They will be keen on registering a few wins before bidding adieu to IPL 2020. But their ace all-rounder and specialist death bowler Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to groin injury.
He sustained the said injury during the crucial match against the table toppers Delhi Capitals and wasn’t available to deliver the all-important final over as well. Soon it was reported that Bravo will miss a few games again and accordingly, didn’t play the must-win encounter against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday.
However, the CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has now confirmed that he will play no further part in the tournament. “No, Bravo isn’t playing any more part this time round and the groin injury has ruled him out. He will be flying back in a day or two,” he was quoted as saying by News18.
We missed Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, admits CSK CEO
Moreover, CSK CEO also admitted that the team missed the veteran cricketers Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh this season. Both of them pulled out of the IPL 2020 citing personal reasons and Kasi stressed that the franchise always respects players’ decisions irrespective of his seniority.
“Undoubtedly Raina and Harbhajan are both vital cogs in the CSK unit and they were missed. But you have to respect personal decisions and that is how we function irrespective of whether it is a senior or junior player,” Viswaanathan further said.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen now if CSK include Imran Tahir in their playing XI finally now that Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out. Having said that, Josh Hazlewood featured in the previous game against the Royals which raised many eyebrows. Tahir was the purple cap holder last season and many are baffled to see the South African leg-spinner being benched for the whole season.
