IPL 2020: CSK pacer Deepak Chahar tests negative for COVID-19 after completing 14 days of quarantine

Things are returning back to normalcy slowly for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of their opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Mumbai Indians (MI). Most of the members of their team who were tested positive a couple of weeks ago, have returned with two negative tests upon the completion of their 14-day quarantine period.
Their ace pacer Deepak Chahar has also returned negative for COVID-19 has returned at the team hotel. Ruturaj Gaikwad and one other member from the backroom team are yet to complete their quarantine after which they will be tested twice as well. After returning negative, they will also be allowed to enter the team hotel. They were tested positive in the second round of testing.
“Apart from Ruturaj and a member of the backroom staff, all those who had tested positive have returned to the team hotel having tested negative. Ruturaj will complete his quarantine in another couple of days,” a source told the Times of India on Wednesday evening.
Deepak Chahar can’t train with the CSK yet
Despite returning negative for COVID-19, Deepak Chahar will not be able to train with the team as of yet. He will have to undergo cardiac and other tests according to the protocols set by the BCCI and only after completing those, he can join CSK team on the field.
“Chahar has tested negative for Covid-19. But he can’t start training yet. There are cardio and other BCCI tests that he has to undergo. He can start training only when he completes all those BCCI protocols,” the source further added.
The quarantine period for the CSK team was extended after their several members were tested positive for COVID-19. Finally after all the remaining members were tested negative, the team was allowed to start training in the bio-bubble on September 4. CSK will open their campaign against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on September 19, the day when the cash-rich league will get underway.
