IPL 2020: Hardik Pandya loses his cool after Jasprit Bumrah fails to stop the ball
Pandya couldn't stop the ball from going to the boundary.
Hardik Pandya is someone, who plays the game with high intensity and never shies away from showing his emotions. On Wednesday, September 23 during Mumbai Indians’ match against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), he got a tad animated. It happened when Dinesh Karthik’s KKR were chasing a mammoth target of 196 in their 20 overs.
MI were already on the driver’s seat, having reduced their opponent to 72 for three after 11 overs. At that point in time, Eoin Morgan and Nitish Rana were in the middle with the required rate as high as 13.78. Kieron Pollard bowled the 12th over and bowled one outside the off-stump from around the wicket. Morgan had plenty of room to free his arms and he played the cut.

Jasprit Bumrah, standing at point, couldn’t stop the ball from going past him. Thereafter, Pandya, running in quite a distance, tried to stop the ball at the boundary, pulling off a dive. However, his efforts went in vain as the leather raced away for a four. Pandya wasn’t happy with happened and he lashed out at Bumrah for not making a whole-hearted effort on the field.

Overall, Pandya went through a roller-coaster ride in the match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. He came to bat in the 16th over and started by playing four dot balls off Sunil Narine, who picked up Saurabh Tiwary’s crucial wicket. However, he got stuck into fast bowler Pat Cummins in the next over, churning out a couple of fours and a colossal six over deep mid-wicket.
In the 19th over, he got out hit-wicket to Andre Russell after failing to keep out a yorker from Andre Russell. He didn’t get a chance to bowl though. MI, after being put in to bat first, posted 195 on the board courtesy skipper Rohit Sharma’s 54-ball 80 with three fours and six sixes.
In the second innings, Trent Boult, James Pattinson, Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Chahar picked up two wickets each, guiding MI to a victory by 49 runs. The win was MI’s 20th against KKR and it also took them to the top of the points table in the championship.
