IPL 2020: Here's the list of traded players so far
One of the surprising trades ahead of IPL 2020 was of Mayank Markande.
Even before the initiation of IPL 2020, the star-studded league has garnered a lot of attention due to its trading window. Ahead of the IPL 2020 auction, the trading window has given a lot of surprising deals for the fans. A few noteworthy transfers being- Ajinkya Rahane to Delhi Capitals, Trent Boult to Mumbai Indians and Ravichandran Ashwin to Delhi Capitals.
The trading window has certainly boosted the excitement level of IPL 2020. The IPL auction will be held in Kolkata on December 19 and the BCCI has announced that the teams will have an additional budget of Rs 3 crore above the balance remaining from their Rs 85 crore from the IPL 2019 auction.
One of the biggest names to be traded ahead of IPL 2020 is Ravichandran Ashwin. The off-spinner, who was the skipper of Kings XI Punjab for two seasons was snapped up bu Delhi Capitals. However, it is yet unclear whether he will lead the side as current captain Shreyas Iyer fared well as the skipper of the Capitals in the previous season.
Rajasthan Royals also stepped up in the ring as they traded all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham to the Kings XI Punjab. In turn, the Royals have secured the services of Ankit Rajpoot who played for the KXIP in the previous season. The Karnataka all-rounder was in great form in the KPL earlier this year and is currently playing in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for his state
Ajinkya Rahane, who is an eminent name Indian cricket, has joined Delhi Capitals. Having played 100 games for the franchise, the right-hander was a crucial part of the Rajasthan Royals. Rahane was also assigned the skipper’s role after Steve Smith was banned for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal.
Another big name to be traded was New Zealand speedster, Trent Boult. In a move, considered to be a game-changer for Mumbai Indians, left-arm speedster Trent Boult was snapped up by the franchise for the upcoming IPL season. Mumbai Indians have bolstered their bowling attack as Boult is expected to complement Jasprit Bumrah. The Kiwi speedster made his IPL debut in 2014 and played for the Capitals in the 2018 and 2019 season.
IPL 2020’s most surprising trade?
One of the shocking trades ahead of IPL 2020 was of Mayank Markande, where the youngster was transferred twice. Markande was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2018 auction for a sum of Rs 20 lakhs. Mumbai Indians traded the leg-spinner to Delhi Capitals earlier, this year in July after the trade window commenced. However, the saga did not end there as Delhi Capitals traded Markande to Rajasthan Royals with Rahul Tewatia as a part of the deal. The move was executed in order to attain the services of Ajinkya Rahane.
Apart from Boult, Mumbai Indians were successful to get hold of Sherfane Rutherford too. The hard-hitting southpaw is expected to notch up Mumbai’s batting line-up. Mumbai also acquired the service of Dhawal Kulkarni from Rajasthan Royals to add depth to their bowling attack. Siddesh Lad, who was associated with Mumbai Indians since 2015, was transferred to Kolkata Knight Riders.
