Despite registering only a single victory in their first three IPL 2020 games, KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab are seen as one of the favourites to clinch the trophy this season. The Punjab side has rather been unlucky so far in its journey on the UAE soil.
They had registered a comprehensive 97-run victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore but their defeats in the other two games came under unfortunate situations. While KXIP lost against Delhi Capitals in a nerve-wrenching Super Over, they were stripped off a certain win against Rajasthan Royals due to Rahul Tewatia abysmal knock.
Mohammed Shami currently holds the Purple Cap with 8 scalps
The KL Rahul-led side, nonetheless, have performed well in both the departments as Mayank Agarwal currently has the Orange Cap and Mohammed Shami has the Purple one. While skipper Rahul and Agarwal have delivered with the willow, Shami has been excellent in leading their bowing unit.
Returning to the field after Covid-19 hiatus, the speedster has picked up an impressive eight wickets while conceding at less than eight runs per over in the on-going IPL 2020. Meanwhile, Shami left the fans confused with his latest Instagram picture where he was spotted enjoying in the swimming pool. Shami had big spots on his back and fans flooded the comment section by asking about the same.
The reason behind Shami’s spots is cupping therapy. The India international had undergone cupping a couple of days ago. During the therapy, special cups are placed on an individual’s skin for a few minutes. The cups create suction and eventually make the muscles feel relaxed.
The process is primarily used for reducing pain and increasing blood flow of the tissues. Shami himself had shared a picture of his back when he was enjoying the cupping therapy. “After cupping feeling so relaxed,” the 30-year-old had written.
Talking about Shami’s record in the IPL, he has scalped 48 wickets in 55 matches so far. He had an impressive stint in the previous edition too where he plucked 19 wickets from 14 games and finished as KXIP’s highest wicket-taker.
KXIP, after suffering two heartbreaking defeats in the early stage of IPL 2020, will be itching to get back to winning ways. With two points under their belt, they’re currently sitting sixth in the points table. The Punjab side is next slated to face MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on 4 October at Dubai International Stadium.
