The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took the field after a week against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday. Both the teams had won a game in their three outings and needed to start winning soon to catch up with the other teams. SRH opted to bat first after winning the toss but didn’t get to a great start. Jonny Bairstow got out in the very first over to Deepak Chahar.
Manish Pandey looked impressive during his 21-ball 29 before getting out and then Warner also got out soon. With the top three gone, Kane Williamson had to bat well to take the team to a decent total. However, he also got out in the 11th over thanks to the mix-up with youngster Priyam Garg.
The incident happened in the last ball of the over soon after the SRH skipper got out. Williamson pushed one ball to the mid-wicket off the back-foot and ran for a single. His partner Garg took a couple of steps and then pulled back selling the Kiwi skipper down the river. Williamson had come half way down running and by the time, he ran back, Ambati Rayudu got to the ball and threw it back to MS Dhoni.
The CSK skipper did the rest to dismiss Kane Williamson. The mix-up left the batsman fuming over his partner as he didn’t expect Garg to pull out of the run at the last moment. The man who is usually quite, expressed his disappointment clearly to his partner as it was a huge moment in the game and SRH were reduced to 69/4 after 11 overs.
