Mumbai Indians (MI) registered yet another big win on Tuesday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). They defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 57 runs to go to the top of the points table once again. While it was largely a straightforward and an easy victory for the four-time champions, MI were scared at one stage when Jos Buttler got going and was hitting sixes at will.
Despite the collapse, Buttler kept going strong and was making sure that he keeps RR in the hunt. However, in the 14th over, Kieron Pollard’s brilliance in the field ended his blitzkrieg and also crashed the Royals’ last hope. It happened in the 14th over of the innings when the England batsman was going berserk with not many batsmen to come and the required run-rate also high.
He had hit a six off every six balls and was doing it since 9th over when Mahipal Lomror got out. Rohit Sharma then brought back James Pattinson into the attack to put pressure back on the opposition. Like he was doing every over, Jos Buttler once again tried to smack the bowler out of the park off the third ball of the over. He smashed the fuller length delivery down the ground.
Kieron Pollard was standing at long-off who first ran in to take the catch but then realised that the ball was going over him. With no time to adjust, the Caribbean giant jumped and put his hand up in the air to stretch 9.8 feet from the ground to get hold of the ball. He couldn’t take the catch then but juggled and caught it successfully while in the air to complete a sensational dismissal.
Jos Buttler was also left stunned as he couldn’t believe his luck and walked back slowly to the pavilion. Nevertheless, he made an attempt to take his team close with a brilliant 70 off just 44 balls with five sixes and four fours.

Kieron Pollard’s sensational effort seals the deal
Kieron Pollard’s sensational remained the talking point for the rest of the evening as the Royals never looked in chase then. They could only add 38 runs after Jos Buttler got out and were bundled out for 136 runs in the 19th over of the game. This loss has led them to slip to the seventh place in the points table and soon will have to up their game to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.
