IPL 2020: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) release seven players from their squad
Miller has been released after playing eight successive season for KXIP.
After the IPL trade window saw its final day showdown on Thursday, all the eight franchises were asked to release their final list of players that they have retained and released until 5:00 PM on Friday. And, Kings XI Punjab has come out with some surprising decisions by offloading some exciting talent from their team. They have released David Miller, Andrew Tye, Sam Curran along with Varun Chakravarthy.
David Miller was the mainstay of Kings batting line-up from the past eight seasons and amassed 1850 runs in 79 games at a strike rate of 138.78. The breakthrough season for him came in 2013 and 2014 when in which he scored 416 runs and 446 runs in respective seasons.

After Miller released from the team, Ness Wadia, the co-owner of Punjab based franchise, recited that it was Miller’s decision to move on and the team-management respected it. “David has been an iconic player for us. He expressed his desire to move on and we respect his decision. We wish him the very best,” KXIP owner said as quoted by India Today.
When the co-owner was questioned if they were going to release Chris Gayle. In reply to it, he said that he is a match-winner and there is no way that their no point in letting him go. “There is no way we could have let him go. He is a champion player,” he added.
However, Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu, who was bought by Kings after paying a whopping amount of INR 8.4 crore in the auction of 2019 was the only Indian player to get released from the team.
Kings too released Curran, who was the most expensive foreign player bought by them in the auction held ahead of IPL 2019. It was a shocker for the fans because he had taken a brilliant hat-trick for them in the previous season against Delhi Capitals and became the youngest player to claim a hat-trick in IPL history.
Meanwhile, during the trade window, Kings traded Ravichandran Ashwin to Delhi Capitals and in return, they got 1.5 Cr. and the Karnataka domestic spinner Jagadeesha Suchith. Now, Kings XI Punjab has a remaining purse of INR 42.70 Cr. Moreover, they also have the maximum amount against the other seven franchises for the upcoming auction that is scheduled to take place on December 19.
