After being at home for almost 4-5 months, the cricketers are now all set to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is the first time the entire league will be played in the middle east. The players are under the mandatory quarantine after reaching UAE, following the guidelines as per the direction of BCCI.
The official Twitter handle of the IPL shared an excerpt of their digital interview with KL Rahul. The newly appointed Kings XI Punjab skipper was asked whether the Karnataka cricketers will be missing the home food in UAE. Rahul didn’t seem to be worried about the same as the players have been at home for a long period and they wouldn’t be missing the home-cooked food in the beginning at least.
“Look, honestly we’ve been at home for the last 4-5 months. We’ve eaten so much home food, so I don’t think for the first 2-3 weeks we’re going to miss home food,” he said.
India’s preferred wicketkeeper-batsman in limited-overs cricket will be leading an IPL team for the first time. However, he will be having an experienced mentor to guide him with Anil Kumble around.
KL Rahul is convinced that Anil Kumble can get them delicious home-cooked food
KXIP has a good number of players from Karnataka. Captain KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Anil Kumble, all hail from Karnataka itself. The 28-year-old feels that even if some arrangements of home food are needed later in the competition, there will be a couple of guys including Kumble that will help the team.
“If it has to be arranged then I know that our manager (assistant coach) Avinash Vaidya is someone who will get you Kannada food anywhere in the world and Anil Bhai as well. I remember when he was coach of the Indian team, whenever we travelled, he got us some really really yummy home-cooked food,” KL went on to add.
Notably, the Punjab franchise has changed its team management this year. Former skipper Ravichandran Ashwin has been traded to Delhi capitals and has been replaced by KL Rahul. Anil Kumble has been signed as the head coach. KXIP will be looking to finally clinch their first title in the 13th season of the cash-rich league.
