Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) locked horns in top of the table clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Sunday. The three-time champions comfortably defeated the Shreyas Iyer-led by five wickets to jump to the numero uno spot in the points table. Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya and Quinton de Kock were the architects of victory.

However, it wasn’t an easy win for MI as they were under a little bit of pressure when DC were batting. Shikhar Dhawan and Iyer were stitching a decent partnership. During one such close run, Hardik Pandya decided to throw at the bowler’s end and ended up conceding an overthrow only for his elder brother to lose cool over him.

The incident took place in the seventh over of the innings when Krunal Pandya was bowling. Iyer trudged the fifth ball of the over from the left-arm spinner close to the covers area and took off for a quick single. Hardik Pandya, the birthday boy, ran quickly towards the ball and threw at the non-strikers sensing a run-out chance. But the throw wasn’t a great one and even Krunal was also not able to collect the ball.

A moment of flare between the Pandya brothers

This led to MI conceding an overthrow and the two batsmen ran an extra run as well. Krunal Pandya was not at all pleased with his younger brother and expressed his anger on the field. His actions clearly stated that there was no need to throw the ball with the batsman being comfortably in and there was no cover behind him as well.

Hardik Pandya was also seen giving an explanation from his end stating that the fielder was there to cover and should’ve been swift in coming in to avoid the overthrow. Rather he was not at all happy with his brother yelling at him and it was a rare moment of the Pandya brothers getting angry over each other.

It was a brilliant game for Krunal Pandya though as he ended up with the figures of 2/26 in his four overs and also scored the winning runs for the team remaining unbeaten on 12 off 7 balls. On the flip side, Hardik Pandya bagged a two-ball duck on his birthday and had a forgettable outing.
