Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) with back-to-back defeats, pushing them down to the bottom of the points table. However, in their third match against the Delhi Capitals (DC), David Warner and Co managed to stage a stupendous comeback, winning by 15 runs.

Defending 163, the Orange Army picked up wickets at regular intervals to show their dominance. The Capitals’ decision to field first after winning the toss backfired after the SRH openers got off to a steady start.

In the run-chase, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant got into the 30s, and Shimron Hetmyer produced a 12-ball 21, but their efforts went in vain. SRH opening their account also meant that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the new cellar dwellers of the ongoing T20 extravaganza.

Here are the SRH Player Ratings for the DC vs SRH match:

David Warner- 8.5/10

David Warner didn’t have happy outings in the first two games, but he made amends. The left-hander managed 45 off 33 with the help of three fours and two sixes. He was involved in a 77-run stand for the opening wicket with Jonny Bairstow. Amit Mishra got rid of him in the 10th over.

Jonny Bairstow- 7.5/10

Jonny Bairstow batted until the 18th over, but he couldn’t quite press the accelerator. In 48 balls, the England cricketer could only muster 53 runs with two fours and a six. Kagiso Rabada cut short his stay in the middle when the right-hander tried to clear mid-off, holding out to Anrich Nortje.

Manish Pandey- 2.5/10

Manish Pandey had an off-day with the bat in hand. He came to bat after Warner’s dismissal and was expected to carry on. However, Mishra nipped him out for only three. On the field, he took the important catch to dismiss Shimron Hetmyer, who was looking ominous with his big-hitting.

Kane Williamson- 9/10

Kane Williamson played his first game of the ongoing IPL and he immediately made an impact. He batted at number four and injected momentum into the SRH innings, scoring 41 runs off 26 balls with the help of five fours. He perished to Rabada in the 20th over in a quest for some quick runs.

Abdul Samad- 6/10

Abdul Samad made his IPL debut and he did whatever he could in the limited chances he got. He came to bat with only 13 balls left in the Sunrisers’ innings, but he didn’t succumb to the pressure. The youngster scored 12 runs off seven balls, laced with one four and one hit over the ropes.

Abhishek Sharma- 6.5/10

Abhishek Sharma faced only a solitary ball while batting, but his major chances came with the leather in hand. The left-arm spinner did his job fairly in the first three overs he bowled. He didn’t concede a single boundary for 22 balls, after which Hetmyer smashed him for a couple of sixes.

Priyam Garg- N/A

Rashid Khan- 9.5/10

Rashid Khan was on top of his game. He got rid of Shreyas Iyer in the second ball he bowled and then pinned Shikhar Dhawan, whose dismissal came after SRH took the DRS. In the 17th over, Rashid delivered the body blow, getting rid of Pant. Apart from three wickets, he gave 14 runs with 13 dots.

T Natarajan- 9/10

T Natarajan was impeccable when it comes to the lethal yorker. Barring a couple of fours, he was right on the money even when the batters tried to attack him. In his last over, he also dismissed Marcus Stoinis to drill the final nail in DC’s coffin. In four overs, he gave only 25 runs at 6.25.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar-  9.5/10

Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away four fours in his spell of four overs. But overall, he gave away 25 runs at an economy of 6.25. It means that in the other 21 balls, he gave only nine runs. He also dismissed Prithvi Shaw and Hetmyer. It was also the first game in this IPL when he got wickets.

Khaleel Ahmed- 5.5/10

Khaleel Ahmed turned out to be the most expensive bowler for the Sunrisers. In his four over , the left-arm fast bowler leaked 43 runs at an economy of 10.75. In his last over, which also happened to be the 20th over, he nipped out Axar Patel, but that was only to mitigate the damage he underwent.
