IPL 2020: Match 13, KXIP vs MI – Mumbai Indians Player Ratings

Mumbai Indians (MI) missed out in an agonising manner against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a thrilling Super Over contest in Dubai. However, Rohit Sharma and Co made an incredible comeback, beating the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 48 runs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Barring losing the toss, very few things went wrong for the Mumbai-based franchise. MI were ambling along until Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya played some jaw-dropping shots and propelled their score to 191 for four in 20 overs.

In their run-chase, Punjab started well, scoring 33 in their first three overs, but lost their way in the middle, losing wickets at regular intervals. In the meantime, with the triumph, MI moved to the top of the points table on net run rate, winning two out of four games.

Quinton de Kock- 1.5/10

Quinton de Kock didn’t have the greatest of games with the bat in hand. He hit a few to the covers off Sheldon Cottrell, who got him out for a five-ball duck. The ball shaped away and the left-handed batter was left surprised. With keeping gloves though, he took a catch to dismiss Nicholas Pooran.

Rohit Sharma- 9.5/10

Rohit Sharma timed the ball to perfection right from the word go. The MI captain churned out 70 runs off 45 balls with the help of eight fours and three sixes. He batted until the 17th over and laid the platform for a final flourish. Mohammed Shami nipped him out, caught by James Neesham.

Suryakumar Yadav- 3/10

Suryakumar Yadav started his knock with a couple of fours and was looking good for a decent knock. But luck didn’t smile on him as he was run out at the striker’s end. Shami threw the stumps down from short fine leg. The right-hander scored 10 off seven balls before heading back to the pavilion.

Ishan Kishan- 5.5/10

Ishan Kishan had a tough day in the office. After his heroic 99 against RCB, he faltered. He smashed a four and a six, but overall, couldn’t even score at a run-a-ball. In 32 balls, the southpaw managed only 28 runs at a strike-rate of 87.50. Krishnappa Gowtham ended his painful vigil in the middle.

Kieron Pollard- 9.5/10

Kieron Pollard smashed the RCB bowlers and he did the same in the match against KXIP as well. He came to bat in the 14th over and showed his brute force. In 20 deliveries, the Trinidadian notched 47 unbeaten runs at a strike-rate of 235. Pollard’s knock was laced with three fours and four sixes.

Hardik Pandya- 9/10

Hardik Pandya did whatever he could have done after coming to bat in the 17th over. He brought out the long handle and scored 30 runs off a mere 11 balls with three fours and two sixes. He played at a strike-rate of 272.72. He was also involved in an unbeaten 67-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Krunal Pandya- 8.5/10

Krunal Pandya was deemed as the weakling in MI’s bowling attack. He was the one KXIP should have targeted. But the left-arm spinner conceded only a six and a four to Pooran in his quota of four overs. The tweaker gave only 27 runs, which included three wides, and also pinned Karun Nair.

James Pattinson- 9/10

James Pattinson didn’t make the greatest of starts to his spell. He conceded 20 runs in his first two overs and looked a tad off colour. However, in the next two overs, he gave only eight runs. Moreover, he picked up the important wicket of Nicholas Pooran and also got rid of Sarfaraz Khan.

Rahul Chahar- 9/10

Rahul Chahar was outstanding with his wily leg-breaks. In the ninth over, he got the all-important wicket of KL Rahul, whom he bowled around the legs. Then he got rid of Glenn Maxwell, who scored a painstaking 18-ball 11. In his four overs, Chahar gave away a mere 26 runs with nine dot deliveries.

Trent Boult- 5.5/10

Trent Boult turned out to be the most expensive bowler for the Mumbai team with an economy rate as high as 10.50. In his four overs, the left-armer picked up the wicket of Ravi Bishnoi. Apart from that, he bowled only four dot balls. The New Zealand fast bowler conceded five fours and one six.

Jasprit Bumrah- 9.5/10

Jasprit Bumrah had a decent day with the ball in hand. In his very first over, the fast bowler gave only one run and rattled Mayank Agarwal’s woodwork. From there on, he didn’t look back. He also pinned James Neesham. In his four overs, Bumrah gave away 18 runs to go with 13 dot deliveries.
