Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched their second victory of the season as they defeated Mumbai Indians in the closest possible manner. The game went down to the wire and result only came out on the last ball of the Super Over. There were several positives from the game but one of the most popular teams have several question marks as well.
Navdeep Saini, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers delivered exceptionally in this narrow win for them. However, the changes they made to make their bowling stronger are yet to be justified. With only two pacers available, the usage of leg-spinners in the death turned out to be lethal for RCB. In RCB vs RR encounter, Virat Kohli has several things to think over and he has to find a way out with the limited resources they own.
Here’s the Predicted Playing XI of Royal Challengers Bangalore for RCB vs RR game:
Openers (Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal)
With two fifties in three games, Devdutt Padikkal has made his impression in IPL 2020. The left-hander looked confident in his approach and his temperament to not attack unnecessarily when Aaron Finch was firing in the last game was applauded by cricket pundits. His role will be adjusted according to the situation’s demand and he will try to convert these fifties into a big one this time.
Aaron Finch, one of the most experienced players of RCB, has got starts in all three games. He looked in great touch in the last game as well and scored a handy fifty to utilize Powerplay. His role will be to play some dominating shots up-front and put the opposition bowlers under pressure in the initial overs.
Middle-order (Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Gurkeerat Singh Mann)
Virat Kohli, the RCB skipper, is going through a lean patch with the bat. He has scored only 18 runs in the first three games and it is the biggest matter of concern for RCB. However, after coming to bat in the Super Over against Mumbai, it was his last ball four only which took them to the glory. RCB would be hoping that their captain has found his missing touch with that match-winning shot.
AB de Villiers is enjoying the innings like always and he has shown his master class with two amazing innings. De Villiers is their prominent finisher and his role will be to provide RCB that last push to achieve a decent total. Gurkeerat has been added into the side to provide a cover to this short but magnificent batting order. His role will be to hit big shots down the order or to stay there and build a partnership in case of a collapse.
All-rounders (Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar)
After showing his effective bowling in the first two games, Shivam Dube played a handy knock at No.5 position against MI. The southpaw has an ability to contribute from both bat and ball and his capability to hit massive sixes will be a fascinating aspect to watch out for.
Washington Sundar, the bowling all-rounder played one of his best games in IPL against Mumbai. He will be looking to repeat his success in the powerplay as he did in the last game where he bowled with an economy of 3 runs per over.
Bowlers (Isuru Udana, Adam Zampa, Navdeep Saini and Yuzvendra Chahal)
Isuru Udana bowled better in the last game than his figures suggest. He is known to bowl cutters and yorkers to the good effect and the variety he provides being a left-hander is what RCB needed. Zampa debuted for RCB and had a good game as well apart from his last over when he was asked to bowl in the death against Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan.
Yuzvendra Chahal is their wicket-taker and his role in this bowling attack is extremely important. Chahal has been used in death overs before and his numbers are decent, it will be interesting to see if Kohli will use him in the death again, considering the treatment he got in the last game.
Saini was their shining armour in the dark night. He bowled exceptional Super Over and gave away only 7 runs which turned out to be their reason to win. If Saini is used in the right manner, he could turn out to be their death overs specialist
