Delhi Capitals got the better of inform Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday as they registered a huge 59-run win at the Dubai Stadium. Prithvi Shaw provided a perfect start by smashing a 23-ball 42 in the powerplay while Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten 53 off 26 deliveries powered Delhi to 196/4. The DC bowlers were relentless against the RCB batsmen leaving them 43/3 in the powerplay. Virat Kohli stood at the crease till 14th over but his 39-ball 43 didn’t make a difference. Kagiso Rabada took four wickets for 24 runs which helped in limiting the RCB team to only 137/9.

DC’s biggest total against RCB:

196/4 – The total of 196/4 by Delhi Capitals in this game is now their highest total in the IPL against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Delhi’s previous highest IPL total over RCB was 194/9 during the away match in 2012

3 – Delhi Capitals have defeated RCB for the 3rd consecutive time in the IPL. This is only the 2nd the Delhi franchise recorded a hat-trick wins against RCB in the IPL. The other streak came in 2008 and 2009 where DC won their first three meetings in the IPL against RCB.


A big win for the Delhi team:

59 – Delhi Capitals’ 59-run win in this game is their first win by 50+ runs over the RCB team in the IPL. This is also their 3rd biggest win in the IPL behind the 97-run win against Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017 and 67-run victory against Rajasthan Royals in 2010.


Kohli @ 9000:

1 – Virat Kohli became the first player to amass 9000 runs in the Twenty20 format when on 10. He is the 7th male to aggregate 9000 T20 runs and overall the 8th player to do so across Men’s and Women’s Cricket. (Suzie Bates only female with 9000 T20 runs)

271 – Virat is now the 2nd fastest to reach the milestone of 9000 runs in Twenty20 cricket taking 271 innings. The fastest is Chris Gayle who was also the first to get there in only 249 innings.


Yet another 4-fer for Rabada in IPL:

3 – Kagiso Rabada now has three 4-wicket hauls in the IPL; all while representing the Delhi franchise. He is the first player to claim as many as three 4-fers for Delhi team in the IPL. Amit Mishra (2) is the only other player with multiple 4-fers for Delhi Daredevils/Capitals.

19Kagiso Rabada has taken at least one wicket in each of his last 19 IPL matches, a streak that began in 2017 edition. This is now the longest wicket-taking spree for any bowler in the IPL alongside Vinay Kumar who picked up a wicket in 19 successive games between 2012 and 2013.


Stoinis stars with the bat again:

2 – Marcus Stoinis has scored two fifties in this IPL edition thus far; both while batting at No.5 or lower. Stoinis is only the 3rd player from Delhi Daredevils/Capitals to register multiple 50+ scores while batting at No.5 or lower in an IPL edition. Paul Collingwood in 2010 and JP Duminy in 2014 also scored two fifties for Delhi while batting outside top four.


The record-breaking pair of DC:

15Rishabh Pant has taken a total of 15 catches in the bowling off Kagiso Rabada thus far which are the most number of catches taken by a keeper off a bowler in the history of IPL. Pant-Rabada pair went past 14 catches by Dwayne Bravo and MS Dhoni combination.


A tough game with the ball for Saini:

16 – Navdeep Saini’s economy rate of 16 during his 3-0-48-0 is now the joint 2nd worst in an IPL match for the RCB team. (Min: 3 overs) Harshal Patel had an economy of 18.67 when he conceded 56 runs in his three overs against KXIP in 2014. Sreenath Aravind also conceded 48 runs in three overs at an economy of 16 during the 2012 edition against RR.
