After two defeats in their first two matches, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), slowly but surely, have climbed up the ladder. The team, led by David Warner, are currently placed third in the points table in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In their sixth match, the Orange Army thumped the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 69 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Electing to bat first, the Orange Army plundered 201 runs in their 20 overs. Though KXIP came back with a flurry of wickets at the death, the damage was already done.
In their run-chase, Nicholas Pooran threatened to take the game away, scoring 77 off 37 balls with five fours and seven sixes. However, to his dismay, he didn’t get any semblance of support whatsoever from his teammates.
Here are the SRH Player Ratings for the SRH vs KXIP match: –
David Warner- 9/10
David Warner scored yet another half-century against the Mohali-based franchise. He shared a 160-run opening stand with Jonny Bairstow. In 40 balls, Warner scored 52 runs with five fours and a six.
Jonny Bairstow- 9.5/10
Jonny Bairstow was at his very best with the bat in hand. He smashed 97 runs off 55 balls with seven fours and six sixes. He eventually got out to Ravi Bishnoi after the Sunrisers took the crucial DRS.
Abdul Samad- 1.5/10
Abdul Samad batted at number three and he got out after scoring eight off seven balls. He faltered with the ball as well, giving away 28 runs in the only over he bowled. Pooran was severe on him.
Manish Pandey- 1.5/10
Manish Pandey couldn’t do much with the bat in hand. He came to bat after Bairstow’s dismissal and was expected to inject momentum into the innings. But he got out for a single to Arshdeep Singh.
Kane Williamson- 7.5/10
Kane Williamson came to bat at number five and he did his job with precision. He scored an unbeaten 10-ball 20 and also smashed a one-handed six off Mohammed Shami in the 20th over.
Priyam Garg- 1.5/10
Priyam Garg managed a golden duck when he came to bat in SRH’s death overs. The youngster became Arshdeep’s second victim. On the field, he took a sharp catch to dismiss Simran Singh.
Abhishek Sharma- 6/10
Abhishek Sharma turned up with 12 runs off six balls with one four and a six. He used the long handle to good effect. While bowling, Pooran hit him for two sixes, but he dismissed Rahul.
Rashid Khan- 9.5/10
Rashid Khan was again the standout bowler for the Sunrisers. The leg-spinner picked up the wickets of Pooran, Mandeep Singh and Shami. In four overs, he gave 12 runs and also bowled a maiden.
Sandeep Sharma- 8/10
Sandeep Sharma couldn’t make a breakthrough, but he was economical, giving away 27 runs at an economy rate of 6.75. The young fast bowler also bowled nine dot balls and conceded one four.
Khaleel Ahmed- 9/10
Khaleel Ahmed replaced Siddarth Kaul in the eleven and bowled well. In three overs, the left-arm seamer gave 24 runs with nine dot balls. He also got rid of Simran Singh and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
T Natarajan- 8.5/10
T Natarajan, yet another time, bowled with pace and venom. The left-armer bowled 11 dots and gave only 24 runs in 3.5 overs. He also accounted for the wickets of Sheldon Cottrell and Arshdeep.
