IPL 2020: Match 27, MI vs DC – Mumbai Indians Player Ratings

Mumbai Indians (MI), on Sunday, October 11, took back the no.1 position from the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the top-of-the-table clash, both the teams fought tooth and nail, but in the end, Rohit Sharma and Co came out trumps by five wickets.

Chasing 163, Mumbai started off brilliantly, and though they did have a stutter, got over the line. After the Capitals won the toss and batted, Shikhar Dhawan’s 69 and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s 42 guided the team to a par score.

But while defending the total, DC couldn’t make enough breakthroughs, losing the game with two balls remaining. At the present point in time, both MI and DC have 10 points from seven matches. However, the Mumbai-based franchise have a superior net run rate of +1.327.

Rohit Sharma- 2/10

Rohit Sharma had a torrid time with the bat in hand. He couldn’t hit a single boundary, scoring only five runs off 12 balls at a dismal strike-rate of 41.66. Axar Patel pinned him in the penultimate over of the mandatory powerplay. Rohit tried to slog one, but holed out to Kagiso Rabada at mid-wicket.

Quinton de Kock- 9/10

Quinton de Kock played some attacking cricket in the first six overs, putting MI on the driver’s seat. The southpaw notched 53 runs off 36 balls with the help of four fours and three massive hits into the stands. The left-hander perished to Ravi Ashwin after the batter went for an aggressive sweep shot.

Suryakumar Yadav- 9.5/10

Suryakumar Yadav had another outstanding day with the bat in hand. He came to bat after Rohit’s early wicket and he didn’t flatter to deceive. He played until the 15th over and scored 53 runs off 32 balls at a strike-rate of 165.62. Surya’s knock was laced with six glorious fours and one huge six.

Ishan Kishan- 8/10

Ishan Kishan came to bat after De Kock perished and he hit his straps from the outset. The attacking batter scored 28 runs off 15 balls with two fours and as many sixes. He would have been a tad disappointed for not finishing off the game and it was Kagiso Rabada, who got rid of the batter.

Hardik Pandya- 1/10

Hardik Pandya didn’t have a game to remember by any means. He hasn’t been bowling due to injury concerns and on Sunday, he failed with the bat as well. He came to bat with MI in a position of dominance, but he failed to open his account. Marcus Stoinis found his outside edge to dismiss him.

Kieron Pollard- 6.5/10

Kieron Pollard got only one over to bowl and he gave away 10 runs without a single dot ball. With the bat, he stayed unbeaten, scoring 13 runs off eight balls to take MI over the winning hurdle. In his knock, he smashed a couple of fours and didn’t allow any sort of pressure to get the better of him.

Krunal Pandya- 9.5/10

Krunal Pandya was outstanding, to say the least, with his left-arm spin. He picked up the crucial wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane, who both looked good. Krunal was arguably the standout bowler for Mumbai as he gave away 26 runs. He also scored 14 runs off nine balls.

James Pattinson- 1/10

James Pattinson didn’t get to complete his spell as he didn’t quite deliver. The speedster turned out to be the most expensive bowler for MI. In his three overs, the pacer leaked 37 runs at an economy rate of 12.33. The seamer was hit for as many as seven fours and he also bowled three wide balls.

Rahul Chahar- 8/10

Rahul Chahar didn’t pick up a wicket, but he didn’t allow the Capitals’ batters to pounce on him either. In his four overs, the tweaker gave away only 27 runs and bowled at an economy of 6.75. He conceded only one four. It goes without saying that the DC batsmen were cautious against him.

Trent Boult- 6.5/10

Trent Boult was reasonable with the ball in hand. He mostly bowls in the powerplay and death overs. Hence, he has to put in the hard yards. In his four overs, the left-arm fast bowler gave away 36 runs with nine dot deliveries. However, the experienced bowler accounted for Prithvi Shaw’s wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah- 8/10

Jasprit Bumrah was another of those bowlers, who didn’t pick up a wicket, but was frugal. In four overs, the fast bowler went for a mere 26 runs. He didn’t give the opposition batters much to work with by any means. In his spell, Bumrah bowled seven dot balls and gave away a solitary four.
