IPL 2020: Match 28, RCB vs KKR – Royal Challengers Bangalore Player Ratings

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are turning out to be a force to reckon with in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Virat Kohli-led unit defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 82 runs on Monday, October 12 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

RCB looked a tad awry after winning the toss and electing to bat first. However, acceleration in the last five overs helped them to 194. Defending the score, the Challengers kept the KKR batters quiet from the outset. The required run-rate, starting at around 9.7, went up and eventually, out of the Knights’ radar.

Dinesh Karthik’s men were restricted to 112 for nine in their 20 overs. For RCB, they moved to the third spot in the points table. KKR keep hanging in the middle of the table and need to go back to the drawing board, desperately, ahead of their next encounter.

Aaron Finch- 7.5/10

Aaron Finch scored 47 runs off 37 balls, but he wasn’t at his very best. He played until the 13th over and was unable to press the accelerator. His knock only had four fours and one six. Prasidh Krishna cut short his stay in the middle. The pacer bowled a lethal yorker and Finch didn’t have an answer.

Devdutt Padikkal- 7/10

Devdutt Padikkal looked promising yet again with the bat in hand. He started fluently in the mandator powerplay. He perished to Andre Russell in the eighth over. Dre Russ rattled his woodwork to end his innings. Nevertheless, Padikkal’s blitz gave the Challengers a brisk start.

Virat Kohli- 6.5/10

Virat Kohli had a rough day with the bat. Though he didn’t get out, he strained to find the boundary. Barring one streaky four through the third man region, he dealt in singles and doubles. In 28 balls, the 31-year-old could only score 33 runs. But he was involved in a 100-run stand with AB de Villiers.

AB de Villiers- 9.5/10

AB de Villiers smashed the KKR bowling to all parts with his power-hitting. It was because of him that RCB racked up the massive score. The right-hander got to his half-century off 23 balls. He stayed not out on 73 runs from 33 balls. His knock was laced with five fours and six massive over-boundaries.

Washington Sundar- 9.5/10

Washington Sundar has been stupendous in every other game he has bowled. The spinner didn’t disappoint even this time around. He picked up Nitish Rana and Eoin Morgan to turn the screws on the Knights’ batting. Moreover, in his four overs, Sundar gave away only 20 runs with eight dot balls.

Chris Morris- 9/10

Chris Morris, after doing well against CSK, did well even this time around. He didn’t get a chance to bat, but delivered with the ball. He didn’t get a wicket upfront, but was economical. Morris got the wickets of Pat Cummins and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The seamer bowled at a decent economy of 4.25.

Isuru Udana- 6.5/10

Isuru Udana came to bowl in the second-half of KKR’s run-chase. In his first over, he was faced with the tough task of bowling to the dangerous Andre Russell. The speedster went for two fours and a six, but he made amends. Udana got rid of the big man in the same over to give RCB a crucial wicket.

Navdeep Saini- 9/10

Navdeep Saini bowled beautifully to start with. The pacer rattled the woodwork of Tom Banton, who made his IPL debut, replacing Sunil Narine. In the three overs, he bowled, Saini didn’t give the batters much to work with. He bowled eight dot deliveries and conceded only 17 runs in his spell.

Yuzvendra Chahal- 9.5/10

Yuzvendra Chahal was on top of his game without a shred of a doubt. On a pitch, deemed as a batsman’s paradise, the spinner didn’t even concede a single boundary and bowled as many as 13 dot balls. In his four overs, the 30-year-old tweaker gave a mere 12 runs and was tough to get away.

Mohammed Siraj- 8.5/10

Mohammed Siraj made a comeback into the playing eleven and he didn’t flatter to deceive. The right-arm seamer bowled three overs and gave 24 runs. He also pinned Rahul Tripathi, who could have done a lot of damage. Siraj also bowled nine dot balls to keep a check on the run-scoring.
