Delhi Capitals (DC) didn’t have a great head-to-head record against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) coming into the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, Shreyas Iyer and Co came out firing on all cylinders and beat them in back-to-back games.

After a one-sided affair in Dubai, the Capitals got past the Yellow Army by five wickets in the last over at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. After winning the toss and electing to bat, CSK racked up 178 despite not having a fluent start. Faf du Plessis notched yet another half-century in the tournament.

Ravindra Jadeja’s 13-ball 33 injected momentum into the innings. While defending the score, CSK stumbled at the finishing hurdle. With the loss, even as CSK kept gasping for breath, the Capitals roared their way to the top of the points table.

Here are the DC Player Ratings for the DC vs CSK match: –

Prithvi Shaw- 1/10

Prithvi Shaw didn’t have a great day with the bat in hand. He couldn’t open his account as he gave Deepak Chahar a simple caught and bowled. DC lost their first wicket without a run on the board.

Shikhar Dhawan- 9.5/10

Shikhar Dhawan notched his maiden IPL century off 57 balls and his knock was laced with 14 fours and one six. He was the standout batter for the Capitals by a country mile and stayed unbeaten.

Ajinkya Rahane- 2.5/10

Ajinkya Rahane’s poor run of form continued as he could only manage eight runs off 10 balls. His hit one four, but then fell prey to speedster Deepak Chahar, who was the standout bowler for CSK.

Shreyas Iyer- 6/10

Shreyas Iyer couldn’t quite up the ante, scoring a run-a-ball 23. He creamed one classy six down the ground and then got out to Shreyas Iyer. He also shared a crucial 68-run partnership with Dhawan.

Marcus Stoinis- 7.5/10

Marcus Stoinis didn’t allow the required rate to move up either. The right-hander scored 24 runs off 14 balls with one four and a couple of hits over the ropes. Pacer Shardul Thakur got rid of the batsman.

Alex Carey- 2/10

Alex Carey came to bat when the Capitals still needed to get the boundaries frequently enough. But scoring four off seven, he wasn’t at his best. Sam Curran ended Carey’s dreadful stay in the middle.

Axar Patel- 9.5/10

Axar Patel didn’t get a wicket but conceded 23 runs at an economy of 5.75. Then he smashed Ravindra Jadeja for three sixes to notch a five-ball 21. The blows took DC over the finishing line.

Tushar Deshpande nipped out Sam Curran early in the innings but then went for a few. In his four overs, the speedster gave 39 runs and was hit for three fours and two sixes. He bowled 10 dot balls.

Anrich Nortje was the most expensive bowler for the Capitals as he leaked runs at 11 runs per over. However, the speedster also dismissed Shane Watson and MS Dhoni to jolt the Super Kings.
