IPL 2020: Match 38 – KXIP vs DC – KXIP Predicted Playing XI
KXIP will have to come up with the best as they have to face the table-toppers Delhi.
The 38th match of the Indian Premier League will see action between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals. What KXIP saw in their last match was nothing less than a pure rollercoaster ride. The players poured in their every inch of spirit and hard work to finally get two points in the second Super Over of the contest. In their clash against Mumbai Indians, one Super Over wasn’t enough to see results as both the teams displayed some ‘never-say-die’ attitude.
It seems like KXIP has some great relations with Super Over as they saw the third Super Over of the 2020 season. The first one came against Delhi only, whom they are meeting yet again in their next face-off. Delhi being at top of the table with all its glory, Punjab will have to come up with the best tactics to have an upper hand over them. No changes will be expected in the squad as they found quite a balanced state last time.
Here’s KXIP’s Predicted Playing XI
Openers (KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal)
Even if Punjab has to find the best set of openers after a few years, the duo of Rahul and Mayank would be perfect. The pair has established itself as a solid foundation of the team’s batting line up, and the entire order depends on them somehow. If Rahul’s terrific knock led Kings to level the scores at the end, it was Mayank who smashed the final boundary and saved runs for his team in a spectacular effort over the boundary line. Two of them are very much set to open for their team.
Middle Order (Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, and Deepak Hooda)
The Universe Boss is back in the KXIP team to lend his support in whichever way possible. He added 24 off 21 during the main match from his end and his thunderous six in the second Super Over almost ended half of Punjab’s struggle. He is much likely to see the next clash with Punjab.
Pooran is very much turning to be an integral part of Punjab. He added 24 runs off his bat in the last game and has played some great knocks for his team in the last couple of matches. He even walked up with KL in the first Super Over, and it shows the team’s trust in his capabilities.
Deepak Hooda has just entered the Punjab team in 2020 IPL to prove his skills. He contributed essential 23 off 16 during the last match. He would be entrusted to provide middle-order strength to his team in tough situations.
All-rounder (Glenn Maxwell)
The batting failure doesn’t seem to be ending for Maxwell in the 2020 season of IPL. He is backed again and again owing to his form in previous seasons of IPL. However, he remained most economical from Punjab’s bowling unit in their last outing. He might show up again in the XI.
Bowlers (Mohammed Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin, Chris Jordan, and Arshdeep Singh)
Chris Gayle believed that Mohammed Shami was his man of the match as he stunned batsmen in front with his pinpoint yorkers while defending just six runs for his team in the first Super Over. The leader of Punjab’s pace attack would be all set to display his magic in their next game.
The young spinner Bishnoi has been doing quite well for his team in his debut season. He got one scalp to his name in the last match too, and would couple up with Murugan Ashwin to level up the spin section of KL Rahul and company. Ashwin didn’t get any wicket in the last event but can be trusted by the team for his decent performances earlier.
Chris Jordan proved to be a costly affair for his team in the last match as he leaked 32 runs in three overs. Due to his running between the wickets taking the longer path, Punjab just fell short of one run from there were clear winners. He might come up with better preparation and plans next time.
Though Arshdeep Singh leaked 35 runs in his spell in the last game, he knocked down Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan to lend all the support to his team. The young pacer can be trusted again with his skills by the team management.
