Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are, slowly but surely, threatening to get into the top four. From a stage when they were almost down and out, KL Rahul and Co have won four matches on the trot and are looking unstoppable. Moreover, they beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday, October 24, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Most importantly, they defended a mere 126 in 20 overs, winning by 12 runs. After SRH won the toss and elected to field, Punjab started handsomely, but couldn’t inject momentum into the innings. In the run-chase, the Orange Army scored 52 runs in the powerplay and were cantering towards victory.

However, Punjab came back from the blues as SRH collapsed from 100 for three to 114 all out in a space of 23 balls. With the loss, the road ahead for the Sunrisers looks tough.

Here are the KXIP Player Ratings for the KXIP vs SRH match:

KL Rahul- 6/10

KL Rahul couldn’t get going and played at a strike-rate of 100. The right-hander scored 27 runs off as many balls with the help of two fours and one six. Rashid Khan castled him to end his stay in the middle.

Mandeep Singh- 5.5/10

Mandeep Singh replaced Mayank Agarwal and opened the batting. He was getting into his groove, scoring 17 runs off 14 balls. But then Sandeep Sharma accounted for his wicket at a crucial stage.

Chris Gayle- 5.5/10

Chris Gayle scored 20 runs off 20 balls and never got going. The left-hander smashed two fours and a six but played a number of dot balls as well. Jason Holder pinned the Jamaican to send him packing.

Nicholas Pooran- 7/10

Nicholas Pooran looked the most accomplished among all the other batsmen. He stayed unbeaten on 32 runs off 28 balls with the help of two fours. His knock turned out to be crucial in the context of the game.

Glenn Maxwell- 3/10

Glenn Maxwell found the going tough yet another time. The Victorian dealt in singles and managed 12 runs off 13 balls. Sandeep Sharma dismissed him when the batsman went for an ambitious shot.

Deepak Hooda- 1/10

Deepak Hooda didn’t quite have the most memorable day with the bat in hand. The right-hander couldn’t open his account and perished to Rashid Khan. Jonny Bairstow stumped him to end his stay.

Chris Jordan- 9.5/10

Chris Jordan became the Player of the Match and deservingly so. He gave away only 17 runs in four overs and dismissed Manish Pandey, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan. He also took a decent catch.

Murugan Ashwin- 8/10

Murugan Ashwin gave away five fours in his spell of four overs. But he made up for them with 12 dot balls. He gave away 27 runs and picked up the wicket of Jonny Bairstow, who was bowled around his legs.

Ravi Bishnoi- 9.5/10

Ravi Bishnoi was hard to get away. To start with, he got rid of the ominous-looking David Warner, who scored 35 off 20 balls, after taking the DRS. He gave away 13 runs and bowled 13 dot balls.

Mohammed Shami- 7/10

Mohammed Shami bowled in the powerplay and went for four fours and one six. In four overs, he gave away 34 runs with 11 dot balls. The speedster got the important wicket of Abdul Samad.

Arshdeep Singh- 9/10

Arshdeep Singh was excellent with the ball in hand. In his 3.5 overs, the left-arm seamer gave away 23 runs. He got the prized wicket of Vijay Shankar and returned with two more in the final over.
