Rajasthan Royals (RR), somehow, managed to cling on their playoffs hopes in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team, captained by Steve Smith, managed to beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

With their fifth victory, they moved to sixth in the points table. After MI scored 195, the Royals needed something special to win. But Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 152-run stand for the third wicket took RR to glory. For Mumbai, Hardik Pandya’s jaw-dropping 21-ball 60 went in vain.

MI are on top of the points table, but they are yet to make the playoffs. In the meantime, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been eliminated before the second round for the first time after 10 glorious seasons in the T20 tournament.

Here are the RR Player Ratings for the RR vs MI match:

Robin Uthappa- 3/10

Robin Uthappa looked classy in his brief stay in the middle. The opener hit a couple of classy fours. To his dismay, he played one shot too many and perished to James Pattinson in the second over.

Ben Stokes- 9.5/10

Ben Stokes notched his second IPL century and stayed unbeaten. The southpaw was unstoppable as he racked up 107 runs off 60 balls. En-route the masterclass, Stokes smacked 14 fours and three sixes.

Steve Smith- 3/10

Steve Smith didn’t have the greatest of days with the bat in hand. He started with a four and a six each but couldn’t carry on. James Pattinson castled him when he tried to pierce the off-side.

Sanju Samson- 9/10

Sanju Samson finally managed to arrest his slump after a string of failures. The right-hander notched 54 runs off 31 balls and played until the very end. His knock was laced with four fours and three sixes.

Jos Buttler- N/A

Riyan Parag- N/A

Rahul Tewatia- 8/10

Rahul Tewatia didn’t pick up a wicket, but he was the most economical bowler for the Royals on the day. In his four overs, he conceded a mere 25 runs with eight dots. He was hit for only two fours.

Jofra Archer- 9/10

Jofra Archer was arguably the standout bowler for the Royals. He rattled Quinton de Kock’s woodwork in his very first over. Then he nipped out Saurabh Tiwary. Archer gave away 31 runs.

Shreyas Gopal- 9/10

Shreyas Gopal was on his mark for the most part of his spell. In four overs, the leg-spinner gave away 30 runs with eight dots. The tweaker also got rid of Suryakumar Yadav and the dangerous Kieron Pollard.

Ankit Rajpoot- 0.5/10

Ankit Rajpoot had a day to forget. In four overs, he leaked as many as 60 runs at a horrendous economy rate of 15. The seamer bowled seven dot deliveries but gave 27 runs in his final over.

Kartik Tyagi- 4/10

Kartik Tyagi had a tough day with the ball. The young pacer picked up the wicket of Ishan Kishan, who was caught at third man. In four overs, the speedster gave away 45 runs with six dot balls.
