Rajasthan Royals will face KXIP in a must-win encounter. They are on the brink of getting eliminated as they have already lost seven out of their 12 games. However, RR pulled off a stunning win against MI in their last clash and they should have immense confidence in themselves.
Their opening fiasco looks almost settled, their bowling line-up is looking confident and with Steve Smith and Jos Buttler in the middle, RR is finally looking settled. However, they will be facing KXIP who are riding on a winning streak of five consecutive games. The pitch at Abu Dhabi is expected to be a sporting one and should assist both batsmen and bowlers.
Here is the predicted XI of RR for Match 50, KXIP vs RR:-
Openers (Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa)
Ben Stokes finally came into the form against MI and his miraculous hundred won them the contest. He said that he is enjoying the new role and RR are expected to continue with the same. Robin Uthappa’s form has been a worry as the veteran cricketer has got starts but he yet to play a big knock.
Middle Order (Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler and Riyan Parag)
Steve Smith‘s form is the trouble for RR and they would want their skipper to finally anchor their innings. Sanju Samson can be the hitter in the middle order and should get the run flow to continue as he did in the last game. As the ball is expected to come onto the bat nicely, both of these batsmen should find it easy to bat in Abu Dhabi.
Jos Buttler is their most attacking batsman and he would want to keep the tempo up for RR. His role will be to provide the much-needed boost with their final score. Riyan Parag hasn’t impressed much in this tournament yet but the faith shown by the management should make him score if the need arises.
All-rounders (Rahul Tewatia and Jofra Archer)
Rahul Tewatia is their power hitter. He can hit massive sixes down the order like he did when these two sides met the last time. Jofra Archer can hit big sixes if needed but his primary role is of a lead pacer. He is extremely valuable in the powerplay and the death and the conditions should assist him early on.
Bowlers (Shreyas Gopal, Kartik Tyagi and Jaydev Unadkat)
Shreyas Gopal is their lead spinner and his role would be of a wicket-taker in the middle overs. KXIP’s batting is strong and RR would want to bowl better at the death as they struggled against MI. Jaydev Unadkat can replace Ankit Rajpoot to form a pace trio with Kartik Tyagi and Jofra Archer in case RR wants to tinker a winning combination.
