Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might already have been eliminated from the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the early exit didn’t dampen their spirit by any stretch of the imagination. The team, captained by MS Dhoni, bowed out on a high with three wins on the trot.

In their last league game, they defeated the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by nine wickets with seven balls to spare. At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Men in Yellow showed their dominance. To start with, after winning the toss and electing to field, Dhoni and Co restricted the Kings XI to 153 for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.

Barring Deepak Hooda, who got a 30-ball 62, no other KXIP batter could make much of an impact. The run-chase turned out to be way too easy for CSK, who didn’t have to drop much sweat.

Here are the CSK Player Ratings for the CSK vs KXIP match:

Ruturaj Gaikwad- 9.5/10

Ruturaj Gaikwad started the IPL with a couple of ducks. But he ended the tournament in a thunderous manner. He stayed unbeaten on 62 runs off 49 balls. His knock was laced with six fours and one six.

Faf du Plessis- 9/10

Faf du Plessis made his way into the eleven at the expense of Shane Watson and he didn’t flatter to deceive. The right-hander smashed 48 off 34 at a strike-rate of 141.17, including four fours and two sixes.

Ambati Rayudu- 7/10

Ambati Rayudu didn’t resort to a lot of risks during his knock of 30 off as many balls. He hit only two fours and remained unbeaten. He was also involved in an unbeaten 72-run stand with Gaikwad.

MS Dhoni- N/A

Narayan Jagadeesan- N/A

Sam Curran- 7/10

Sam Curran didn’t have much to do in the game. The left-arm pacer didn’t get to complete his quota. The pacer bowled a couple of overs where he gave away 15 runs. The left-hander didn’t get to bat either.

Ravindra Jadeja- 9/10

Ravindra Jadeja was the most economical bowler for the Super Kings. In three overs, the tweaker gave only 17 runs and didn’t concede a single boundary. He also rattled the woodwork of Mandeep Singh.

Deepak Chahar- 2/10

Deepak Chahar didn’t have the greatest of days with the ball in hand. The speedster gave away 30 runs and didn’t even complete his quota of four overs. He leaked four fours and one six in this three-over spell.

Shardul Thakur- 9/10

Shardul Thakur didn’t give a lot of runs and had an economy rate of 6.75 in his four overs. In the 11th over, the fast bowler removed Nicholas Pooran and reduced the Kings XI to 68 for three in 10.4 overs.

Lungi Ngidi- 9/10

Lungi Ngidi was a tad expensive, bowling at an economy of 9.75 in his four overs. But then, he picked up the crucial wickets of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal and then accounted for James Neesham’s scalp.

Imran Tahir- 9/10

Imran Tahir had a decent day with the ball in hand. The leg-spinner gave away 24 runs at an economy of six with six dot balls. He also got rid of the dangerous Chris Gayle, who could have done a lot of damage.
