Kings XI Punjab sealed their first win of the IPL 2020 following a 97-run victory by thrashing the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai. The KXIP skipper KL Rahul went beyond the limit in the death overs pilling up 42 runs in the last two overs to finish with a record unbeaten 132. Rahul’s efforts powered his team to finish with 206/3 in the 20 overs. In the chase, RCB lost three wickets in first three overs with just four runs on the board. They eventually collapsed to 109 with the leg-spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin taking three wickets apiece.

97 – The 97-run win for Kings XI Punjab in this match is their 2nd biggest victory in terms of runs in the IPL. Their biggest was of 111 runs also against RCB during the 2011 season match where the RCB team got bowled out for 121 chasing a target of 123.
4 – This win of KXIP is their first since the start of 2018 in the IPL against RCB. The Bangalore franchise won all four matches they played against KXIP across 2018 and 2019 editions.

131 – KL Rahul (132*) scored 131 runs more than his opposite number Virat Kohli (1) in this match. This is the highest difference between scores of two skippers in an IPL game surpassing the difference of 115 runs created by David Warner (126) during the SRH-KKR match in 2017 season while KKR captain Gautam Gambhir scored only 11 runs.
3 – Rahul recorded only the 3rd instance of an Indian player outscoring the opposition in an IPL match. Rahul Dravid scored 66 in the 2009 season match against Rajasthan Royals who were bowled out for 58 while Virat Kohli made 109 against Gujarat Lions who were bundled for 104 in the 2016 season match.

132* – The unbeaten 132 by KL Rahul is now the highest individual score by any player for the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. The previous highest was 122 by Virender Sehwag against Chennai Super Kings in the 2014 Qualifier match.
