The three-times champion Chennai Super Kings couldn’t have had a thrilling start to the tournament ahead of IPL 2020. The MSD led side kicked off their journey against Mumbai Indians today, September 19. Though the Yellow Army has been dominant enough to put all the teams in their weak zone, it is only Mumbai Indians they don’t get comfortable playing against. The Rohit Sharma-led franchise has always been successful to have the upper hand against CSK

In fact, Mumbai is the only one that has more victories against CSK than loss. Even during the last year, the blue army defeated Kings’ four times including in the dramatic finale. Seeing their head-to-head stats, it is 17-11 in the favour of four-time champions Mumbai Indians. Despite all the struggles in the past, MS Dhoni made it clear that he is not at all the in the mood of any revenge.

During the time of toss, the CSK skipper was asked about his plans ahead of this big match, he came with a perfect reply that one can only expect from MS Dhoni. “Being a gentleman’s game you don’t think about revenge (against MI). You think about the mistakes you made,” said Dhoni.

Have to applaud every member of the squad: MS Dhoni

The Ranchi stalwart also heaped praise on his teammates for being extremely cooperative during their tough times in the IPL. While every other team had to go quarantine of 6 days, it was CSK that observed quarantine for 14 long days. It happened because 13 members of their contingent including Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested COVID-19 positive during the initial days of the season.

“Have to applaud every member of the squad. First, six days in quarantine is very difficult. Felt each individual used that time well and nobody was disappointed or frustrated. The practice facilities were very good. After the first 14 days it was nice to get out,” stated MSD.

CSK also suffered a huge setback when two of their star players decided to pull out from the tournament. Suresh Raina and veteran Harbhajan Singh cited personal reasons to step out of the tournament. However, coping up with the setbacks, the Yellow Army is standing tall.
