The second of Sunday’s doubleheader, probably, witnessed the most one-sided match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by MS Dhoni, beat the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Yellow Army chased down 179 in 17.4 overs with as many as 14 balls left in their innings.
After KXIP won the toss, and elected to bat first, the odds were stacked against the Super Kings. It’s because the chasing teams had lost all the seven games in Dubai. However, Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson put on an unbeaten 181-run stand to see CSK over the finishing line. Most importantly, the Yellow Army got themselves up to sixth from the bottom of the points table.
MS Dhoni shares his insights
Dhoni would also have breathed a sigh of relief after CSK’s batting found some rhythm following some dismal show in the tournament. In the meantime, after the game, the 39-year-old Dhoni was seen giving some tips to KXIP’s Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul, who both listened to the veteran with attention. The video of the same was uploaded on IPL’s official Twitter handle.
Here’s the video:
Can there be a better person than #MSDhoni to analyse the game. We absolutely love these post-match interactions. #Dream11IPL #KXIPvCSK pic.twitter.com/a2foU7eyGx

As far as Rahul and Agarwal are concerned, the duo, personally, has had a decent outing in the T20 extravaganza. Both are among the leading run-scorers in the tournament, however, have lacked support from the others. In Dubai, Rahul didn’t flatter to deceive. Opening the batting, the Bangalore-born notched 63 runs off 52 balls with the help of seven fours and a six.
Overall, he has 302 runs from five matches at an average and strike-rate of 75.50 and 141.78 respectively. Mayank, on the other hand, is in riveting form as well. The right-hander has 272 runs to show for his efforts. On Sunday, he got off to a flying start, scoring 26 off 19 balls with three fours.
But after a 61-run opening stand with Rahul, Agarwal perished to leg-spinner Piyush Chawla in the ninth over. Despite their best efforts, KXIP are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with one win from their five encounters. Their next match is against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on October 8 in Dubai itself.
