IPL 2020: Players list with highest base prices announced

The IPL auction for the 2020 season is set to take place on December 19 in Kolkata. A total of 971 players have registered for the same with only 73 spots to be filled. Moreover, the players with the highest base prices of Rs 2 crore and Rs 1.5 crore have also been announced. Pat Cummins, the most successful bowler of 2019, is the notable entry in the list with the base price of Rs 2 crore.

Chris Lynn, who was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has also kept his base price in the top bracket. Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh are the other Australians to have kept the maximum base price and will hope for one of the eight teams to bid for them. As many as 55 players from Australia have signed up for the IPL 2020 auction.

South Afric star Dale Steyn who featured for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in two matches last season and is the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing MSL season is also in the top bracket while Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews being the other player in the list.

Robin Uthappa only Indian to keep the higher base price in IPL 2020 auction

Interestingly, Robin Uthappa is the only Indian cricketer in the list of highest base prices. He has kept Rs 1.5 crore as his base price according to ESPN Cricinfo. The Karnataka player was released by the KKR after a poor 2019 season while the same was the case with Chris Morris who featured for the Delhi Capitals. Kane Richardson is having a great 2019 as far as the T20Is is concerned and he has also registered his name for the auction in the Rs 1.5 crore base price bracket.

Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan are the other notable names in this list and both of them are expected to invite a bidding war among the teams during the auction. It will be interesting to see which teams go for some of these players during the auction in Kolkata later this month.
