Unbeaten match-winning knocks from Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag helped Rajasthan Royals to script an emphatic five-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The David Warner-led side, after electing to bat first, finished with 158 for 4 in their quota of 20 overs. Manish Pandey was the top-scorer with 54 off 44 deliveries.
In response, after losing early wickets, it looked like Royals were on their way to suffering another defeat. However, Tewatia and Parag snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat. Parag (42*) and Tewatia (45*) added vital runs and chased down the target in death overs. SRH’s Rashid Khan and Khaleel Ahmed scalped two wickets each but they were unsuccessful in suppressing the Tewatia-Parag carnage.
Rahul Tewatia-Riyan Parag duo shift the match in RR’s favour
Young Parag, on the penultimate ball of the last over, hit the winning six off Khaleel Ahmed and the entire RR dugout burst in joy. Parag, hailing from Assam, also performed a Bihu dance on the field to mark RR’s impressive win.
Amid the victory celebrations, cameras caught a heated argument between Khaleel and Tewatia. In the high-pressure situation, a few words were exchanged between the two during the last over. They had also exchanged a few heated words on the fourth delivery when there was a run-in between the two. Tewatia had hit the ball towards long-on to give Parag the strike on the next delivery.
After the match ended, the feud continued as an animated Tewatia said something to Khaleel. SRH skipper David Warner also had to intervene to cool things off. In the end, Khaleel made peace as he was seen with an arm around Tewatia’s shoulder.

Tewatia had hogged the headlines after slamming five sixes in one over from Sheldon Cottrell during an earlier game against Kings XI Punjab. His blistering half-century had steered RR to the victory in that match. The Haryana leggie replicated his batting show and guided his side to their sixth victory of the tournament.
Steve Smith-led RR, after registering three wins in seven matches, are sitting sixth in the points table with 6 points. With an aim to qualify for the Playoffs, Royals will next face Delhi Capitals on October 14 at Dubai International Stadium.
