IPL 2020: RCB's Chris Morris unlikely to play against KXIP after suffering a side strain
Despite having a star-studded line up for all these years, RCB haven’t been able to make a mark in the history of IPL so far.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have already begun their things in style in IPL 2020 after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match. They are set to play their next match against KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab on September 24.
However, in the latest turn of events, the team’s Director of Operations, Mike Hesson, said that Chris Morris won’t be available for their next match. The South-African all-rounder has suffered a side strain and is not in a position to show up for the upcoming match.
Morris was snapped by RCB for a handsome amount of INR 10 crore for strengthening their bowling area. The all-rounder who would have played a huge role in his franchise needs some rest before getting back in action again. This might affect their balance of the squad, and Virat Kohli and the company will be careful enough to tackle the situation.
“Chris Morris, unfortunately, picked up a slight side strain a few days ago, he would have played a huge role through the middle and death overs, his batting would have had a huge impact as well. Hopefully, Chris will come into consideration for selection in a game or two, we will continue to monitor him,” said Hesson in a video posted by RCB on their Twitter handle.
RCB looking forward to make a mark in IPL 2020
Despite having a star-studded line up for all these years, RCB haven’t been able to make a mark in the history of IPL so far. In fact, they had a horrible last season where they ended finishing last on the points table. However, they have kicked off their journey in IPL 2020 on a positive note and will try to replicate the same thing in the upcoming matches.
Before the commencement of IPL 2020, skipper Kohli talked about the balanced state of the team. He stated that the team hasn’t been this balanced in all the sections after 2016, and it looks like a fresh start for them. The star batsman of their team– AB de Villiers also seconded his statements and said that this year’s IPL journey can be great for them. Let’s see if they replicate their actions tomorrow (September 24) in Dubai.
