As the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is only four days away, the cricket analysts from all over the world have been engaging with the cricket fans on their respective social media handles, drawing their opinions and assumptions relating to the players of the all the eight franchises. The cricketer-turned-commentator Scott Styris is also not behind in rating the players and the teams after examining the pitches of United Arab Emirates (UAE).
On Monday (September 14), the former New Zealand cricketer predicted the position of all the eight IPL franchises at the end of the league stage of 2020 edition. Styris believes that Delhi Capitals, who haven’t reached the finals of the tournament even once, will be the table toppers in the upcoming tournament.
The Delhi squad looks promising this time with the addition of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Marcus Stoinis, Chris Woakes and Shimron Hetmyer. The second in the list is the defending champions Mumbai Indians followed by the Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders. Notably, MI has a lethal combination for their IPL 2020 campaign while KKR is also expected to play aggressive form of cricket with the likes of Sunil Narine, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell and Pat Cummins on their side.
Rajasthan Royals acquires the last spot in Scott Styris’ list
The three-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who will be playing without the services of their two star Indian players, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, are placed at the fourth position in the table. The commentator ranked the David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at fifth position despite them having players like Jonny Bairstow, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar apart from their skipper.
SRH was followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore who have top cricketers like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal, Dale Steyn and Aaron Finch in their team while the second-last position was acquired by the Kings XI Punjab that is equipped with the likes of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Shami.
The last position went to Steve Smith’s Rajasthan Royals in Scott’s list. Though Rajasthan has superstars like Jos Buttler, Steve Smith and Jofra Archer in its squad, they lack a star Indian player and also the availability of Ben Stokes is not confirmed.
