IPL 2020: Shikhar Dhawan strategising to 'take advantage' of rusty Rohit Sharma ahead of Qualifier 1
Rohit returned to MI's playing eleven against SRH after his injury layoff.
Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma remained out of the playing XI after he suffered a hamstring injury in a match against KXIP in Dubai. He came back against SRH and couldn’t show great form with the bat. In fact, his form with the bat has not been too remarkable in IPL 2020 as he has failed to score big. In his absence, Caribbean star Kieron Pollard led the team with all the experience under his belt.
Now Mumbai have qualified for the playoffs and was the first team to make the second round this season. Delhi are placed at the second position, and they will be playing the Qualifier 1 against Mumbai Indians. In reference to the match, Delhi’s ace batsman Shikhar Dhawan feels that Sharma may be a bit out of touch due to his injury, and in this case, Delhi can have an upper hand in the upcoming game.
“Rohit is a very good player, and he hasn’t played many matches so, I am not sure about his touch, and that means that we can definitely take advantage of it. My best wishes to him, but yes as opponents, we can take advantage of that for sure and make plans accordingly,” said Dhawan on the eve of the first Qualifier as quoted by the Outlook.
I love playing in Australia: Shikhar Dhawan
Rohit has not even been picked by the BCCI for the upcoming mega-series against Australia. His long-time opening partner, Dhawan would like to maintain his dominance when the two team lock horns with each other on Thursday in Dubai.
Dhawan is having a splendid IPL campaign as he has bagged huge 525 runs in his bag so far with two centuries. He also said that he would like to give his sheer best for the national team when they play against Australia.
“Once you have got good scores, you want to carry that to the next series. I love playing in Australia. It’s a great place to play cricket. The pitches are good and I enjoy playing their bowling. It will be a special series as the Indian team will be playing after a long time. I want to showcase my class,” concluded Dhawan.
