It has already been 10 days since IPL 2020 kick-started and set the stage on fire. All the teams have played at least 2 matches by now and have started to figure out their perfect combinations as well as roles for each player in the team. Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals have been by far the best teams on the board, securing 2 wins from an equal number of matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, have not been able to open their account until now.

This season of IPL has been a roller-coaster ride up until now&#8211; power-packed with final over finishes and super overs and also weaved with mundane one-sided encounters. In the 10 completed matches, many new players announced themselves on the stage while others continued from where they left off during the last season.

Players like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Faf du Plessis, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/dinesh-karthik-names-three-kkr-players-he-would-trade-to-get-kagiso-rabada-shreyas-iyer-and-r-ashwin-from-dc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kagiso Rabada</a>, Mohammed Shami and Sam Curran have been leading the batting and bowling charts respectively.

Amidst the awe-inspiring performances of these players, there are many others who haven’t been able to live up to their reputation. Also, many other players have flattered to deceive. In the thick of such cut-throat competition, some of the players have been dishing out below-par performances.

In a team filled with IPL as well as International cricket veterans, it is often hard to make your mark. However, India’s former Test opener has not even come close to establishing any sort of impact for his team. In the 3 matches he has played, his strike rate is unbecoming of a decorated opener.

The hero of 2011 IPL final, Vijay has found it difficult to get going in all the matches he has played. His last significant contribution in IPL came about 9 years ago. Though he has been a part of CSK’s squad since his re-induction in 2018, he hardly got any chances to play because of the changed dynamics of the team.

Sarfaraz Khan is one of the most talented and gifted young cricketers of the current generation. After a few years of association with RCB, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2019 season. Sarfaraz brings an X-factor to the team with his finishing skills, however, he still may prove to be a burden for his existing side.

Punjab’s top order has been performing exceptionally well with their team losing only a total of 5 wickets in their last 2 matches. However, their bowling is susceptible to taking a hit, as was evidenced in the match against <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2020-rajasthan-royals-star-rahul-tewatias-latest-tweet-with-a-pun-is-trending-on-social-media/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rajasthan Royals</a>. Perhaps the most hyped-up cricketer in the past few years, Unadakat has constantly flattered to deceive. He has not been able to justify the high price-tag that he has been bestowed with, year after year. This year too, he has been the least impressive of all the players in the Royals’ setup.

His left-arm pace was expected to rattle the right-handed batsman of the opposition. But even CSK and KXIP, teams whose top order is filled with right-handed batsmen, hardly faced any problems while playing him. Against CSK, he leaked 44 runs in his quota of 4 overs. In a team where relatively unknown players like Rahul Tewatia have gone on to accomplish remarkable feats, Unadkat is struggling to find rhythm in his bowling. Royals have a lot of bowling options at their disposal.  The likes of Varun Aaron as well as youngsters like Kartik Tyagi and Akash Singh may be given an opportunity soon if Unadkat remains a burden on the Men in Pink.

However, this year both of them are looking out of touch with the elder brother failing to make any significant contribution.

He didn’t get a chance to bat in the 3rd match and was below par in the first two. He has not been much effective with his left-arm orthodox spin too. Although much of his failures in bowling could be attributed to the dew factor. His batting has not provided any consolation too.

People expect top-notch performance from Krunal but he has looked pretty ordinary this season. Saha is one of the most talented active wicketkeepers in the current season. His acrobatics and reflexes behind the stumps are second to none. However, he has been facing some issues with his batting since the last season.

In 2014, Saha became the first batsman to score a hundred in an IPL final when he struck 115 for Kings XI Punjab against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he is now a pale shadow of the force he was a few years ago. Kuldeep Yadav became a sensation after his exploits in the Under-19 World Cup 2014. Identifying his potential, KKR immediately snapped him up and consequently made him a regular in their side. Yadav slowly rose through the ranks and established himself as a premier bowler of India’s national team.
Yadav, with his bag of tricks and cunning chinaman style has always been a force to be reckoned with in the IPL. However, his form took a dip after Moeen Ali smashed him to all corners of the park last year. Ever since then, he has not been the same bowler and his deliveries lack that vigour which made him so special.
In the current season, with the dew-factor weighing in, Yadav has found it tough to bowl as he would’ve liked. Other bowlers like Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti,<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/andre-russell-is-scared-of-driving-cars-and-when-the-bus-swerves-dinesh-karthik/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> Andre Russell</a>, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Pat Cummins have bowled quite well which makes Yadav the only weak link in his side this season.

Mohit Sharma was not the first choice Indian pacer for the Delhi Capitals. However, an unexpected injury paved the way for his inclusion in the playing XI. Once a strike bowler for Chennai Super Kings and the spearhead of India’s pace attack in the 2015 World Cup, Sharma’s performance has deteriorated over the years.
After he was bought by <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/kxip-ipl-team-2020-players-list-full-list-of-kings-xi-punjab-squad-and-support-staff/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kings XI Punjab</a>, he made his comeback to his original team CSK in 2019. Here, he was not expected to get enough chances and performed poorly in his only match. The capitals bought him and kept him as a backup option for their Indian strike pacer, Ishant Sharma.
In the match against Kings XI Punjab, he scalped the prized wicket of KL Rahul, however conceded a huge amount of runs. Had it not been for Stoinis’ and Rabada’s heroics in the end, the Capitals would have suffered a heartbreaking loss. In the next match, he was replaced by the uncapped pacer Avesh Khan.

It has already been 10 days since IPL 2020 kick-started and set the stage on fire. All the teams have played at least 2 matches by now and have started to figure out their perfect combinations as well as roles for each player in the team. Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals have been by far the best teams on the board, securing 2 wins from an equal number of matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, have not been able to open their account until now.
This season of IPL has been a roller-coaster ride up until now&#8211; power-packed with final over finishes and super overs and also weaved with mundane one-sided encounters. In the 10 completed matches, many new players announced themselves on the stage while others continued from where they left off during the last season.
Players like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Faf du Plessis, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/dinesh-karthik-names-three-kkr-players-he-would-trade-to-get-kagiso-rabada-shreyas-iyer-and-r-ashwin-from-dc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kagiso Rabada</a>, Mohammed Shami and Sam Curran have been leading the batting and bowling charts respectively.
Amidst the awe-inspiring performances of these players, there are many others who haven’t been able to live up to their reputation. Also, many other players have flattered to deceive. In the thick of such cut-throat competition, some of the players have been dishing out below-par performances.
Here in this article, we will look at one player from each team who may be a burden for his team:

In a team filled with IPL as well as International cricket veterans, it is often hard to make your mark. However, India’s former Test opener has not even come close to establishing any sort of impact for his team. In the 3 matches he has played, his strike rate is unbecoming of a decorated opener.
The hero of 2011 IPL final, Vijay has found it difficult to get going in all the matches he has played. His last significant contribution in IPL came about 9 years ago. Though he has been a part of CSK’s squad since his re-induction in 2018, he hardly got any chances to play because of the changed dynamics of the team.
This season, however, he got a chance to start for his team as <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2020-comeback-unlikely-for-suresh-raina-as-csk-removes-his-name-from-official-website/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Suresh Raina </a>opted out of the tournament. However, he has not made any significant contribution to the team’s cause. His lack of intent while chasing huge totals has already earned him a lot of flak. With Ambati Rayudu expected to make his return in the next match, Vijay might be the one who would have to make way to accommodate him.

<h3>2. Sarfaraz Khan &#8211; KXIP</h3>

Sarfaraz Khan is one of the most talented and gifted young cricketers of the current generation. After a few years of association with RCB, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2019 season. Sarfaraz brings an X-factor to the team with his finishing skills, however, he still may prove to be a burden for his existing side.
Punjab’s top order has been performing exceptionally well with their team losing only a total of 5 wickets in their last 2 matches. However, their bowling is susceptible to taking a hit, as was evidenced in the match against <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2020-rajasthan-royals-star-rahul-tewatias-latest-tweet-with-a-pun-is-trending-on-social-media/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rajasthan Royals</a>. Kings don’t have a huge array of reliable bowling options in their current XI.
Glenn Maxwell and James Neesham are vulnerable to any brutal onslaught by sloggers whereas Murugan Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi are quite inexperienced. Thus, it makes sense for KXIP to replace Sarfaraz with a player who has a comparable ability to finish matches and who could also chip in with a few overs.
Krishnappa Gowtham fits this criterion and he might be the one who could solve this conundrum. Thus, Sarfaraz, not because of his own performance, but because of the team’s needs, becomes a burden on them.

<h3>3. Jaydev Unadkat &#8211; RR</h3>

Perhaps the most hyped-up cricketer in the past few years, Unadakat has constantly flattered to deceive. He has not been able to justify the high price-tag that he has been bestowed with, year after year. This year too, he has been the least impressive of all the players in the Royals’ setup.
His left-arm pace was expected to rattle the right-handed batsman of the opposition. But even CSK and KXIP, teams whose top order is filled with right-handed batsmen, hardly faced any problems while playing him. Against CSK, he leaked 44 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Against <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2020-jofra-archer-brutally-trolls-kings-xi-punjab-after-they-take-a-dig-at-his-bowling-figures-in-rr-kxip-game/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Punjab</a>, he conceded 30 runs in 3 overs and was not trusted by the skipper to bowl in the slog overs.
In a team where relatively unknown players like Rahul Tewatia have gone on to accomplish remarkable feats, Unadkat is struggling to find rhythm in his bowling. Royals have a lot of bowling options at their disposal.  The likes of Varun Aaron as well as youngsters like Kartik Tyagi and Akash Singh may be given an opportunity soon if Unadkat remains a burden on the Men in Pink.

<h3>4. Krunal Pandya &#8211; MI</h3>

Over the years, Pandya brothers have become an integral part of the Mumbai Indians’ setup. Both Hardik and Krunal Pandya have performed exceptionally well for the franchise over the last few years. However, this year both of them are looking out of touch with the elder brother failing to make any significant contribution.
He didn’t get a chance to bat in the 3rd match and was below par in the first two. He has not been much effective with his left-arm orthodox spin too. Although much of his failures in bowling could be attributed to the dew factor. His batting has not provided any consolation too.
People expect top-notch performance from Krunal but he has looked pretty ordinary this season. If his bad streak continues, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/best-ipl-performance-so-far-in-2020-ravi-shastri-lauds-washington-sundar-for-his-masterful-spell-against-mumbai-indians/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mumbai Indians </a>may be forced to rope in Anukul Roy, who is a like-for-like replacement or Prince Balwant Rai, who can assist Rahul Chahar with his leg-breaks and can also perform well with the willow.

The story of Umesh Yadav in RCB runs parallel to the team’s death bowling situation. Bowling with fiery pace since the beginning of his career, Yadav has failed to achieve success in the T20 league because of lack of proper bowling line and length. He has often disappointed in the death overs, nearly giving many matches away by conceding a lot of runs.
RCB has also constantly faced issues in its death bowling since a long time. The arrival of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/lasith-malinga-and-isuru-udana-likely-to-miss-the-first-week-of-ipl-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Isuru Udana</a> and Chris Morris was expected to improve it significantly with Saini providing adequate support to the two overseas pacers. However, an untimely injury to the protean all-rounder propelled Yadav into the playing XI for the first 2 matches.
Yadav disappointed heavily in bot matches, going for runs and being smashed all over the park. His poor line along with his speed allowed even the edges to run quickly towards the boundaries. In such a scenario, his team’s death bowling suffered poorly and he was dropped for the 3rd match.

However, he is now a pale shadow of the force he was a few years ago.
