IPL 2020: Top 5 run-scorers in the tournament after the first week
These batsmen would be expected to take charge for the entire season for their respective franchises.
2. KL Rahul (Kings XI Punjab)
Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul has scored 153 runs in 2 innings at a strike rate of 173.86. He also has the highest score in this year’s IPL as of now – a magnificent 132* against his previous franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has 16 fours and 8 sixes to his name.
KL started well against Delhi Capitals, scoring 21 runs and built a partnership with Mayank Agarwal against the fiery bowling attack of Shreyas Iyer and Co. However, he could not build on further and it led to a collapse for Punjab.
In the game against Bangalore, KL did not rush at all. He timed the ball perfectly, and punished the bad balls. He scored his first half century off 35 deliveries. After captain Kohli dropped two catches in consecutive overs at the death, he capitalised on it- scoring 49 runs off the last 12 deliveries. He is a strong contender this year for the Orange Cap.
