IPL 2020: Top 5 run-scorers in the tournament after the first week
These batsmen would be expected to take charge for the entire season for their respective franchises.
The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has commenced. The fans have witnessed some extremely interesting and engaging moments in this year’s edition of the cash rich league.
It was expected that the pitches would be less favourable for batsmen. However, some batsmen have proved it wrong with their sheer consistency over the 2-3 matches they have played. With a mix of fluent batting and aggression, these batsmen have established themselves this season.
The list is dominated by Indians, and led by a South-African overseas superstar. These batsmen would be expected to take charge for the entire season for their respective franchises.
Here’s the list of the run-scorers in IPL 2020: –
1. Faf du Plessis (Chennai Super Kings)
The only overseas player in the list as of the first week, he has scored 173 runs in 3 innings. With a strike-rate of 149.13 and an average of 86.50, he also has 2 fifties to his name. He has hit 11 fours and 7 sixes.
He scored 58* against Mumbai Indians while chasing 163 in the tournament opener at Abu Dhabi. He played the sheet anchor’s role and supported Ambati Rayudu, who scored a match-winning 71. However, the next 2 innings have come in losses for the former South African captain.
He was the lone warrior in the chase of 216 against Rajasthan Royals, scoring 72 off just 37 deliveries. He paced his innings well, and with support could have pulled off something extraordinary. He scored 43 against Delhi, and was the top-scorer for CSK once again with unfortunately no support.
