IPL 2020: Virat Kohli reveals why he would never think of leaving RCB
Kohli has been consistently delivering with the bat for RCB and he was also their leading run-scorer in the previous IPL.
Virat Kohli has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore ever since the inception of the Indian Premier League. The Bangalore franchise signed Virat up after witnessing his heroics in the 2008 U19 World Cup and the current RCB skipper became a part of the star-studded Rahul Dravid-led franchise in the inaugural season.
Despite not leaving an impact in the initial few editions, Kohli was entrusted by the franchise. Their patience eventually paid off as Kohli emerged as one of the most successful batsmen in the tournament. Along with proving his mettle in the IPL, Kohli transformed himself as a modern-day great.
In 2013, Kohli was appointed as the RCB captain and led the side to the 2015 playoffs and 2016 final as well. Despite RCB’s unsuccessful attempts to lift the IPL trophy until date, Kohli is an absolute fan-favourite. Not many RCB fans can imagine Kohli playing in the IPL while donning the jersey of any other franchise.
Ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2020, Kohli opened up about the bond which he shares with the Bangalore franchise. He even made it clear that he will never be able to leave RCB. 31-year-old Kohli reminisced his IPL journey with the franchise and said that their ultimate goal is to clinch their maiden title.

“That’s always gonna be our dream together and I was just thinking there is no way in any scenario that I can ever think of leaving this team, because of the love and care, the franchise has shown,” he added.
“You can feel emotional about the season going well or not but to have that loyalty with Bangalore, with RCB its quite surreal. Till the time I play IPL, regardless of how we play, I’ll never leave this team,” said the RCB skipper.
Run-machine Kohli is currently the highest run-getter in the IPL, having gathered 5,412 runs with five centuries. Kohli has been consistently delivering with the bat for RCB and he was also their leading run-scorer in the previous IPL.
Kohli would be aiming to deliver another impressive performance this year and steer RCB to their maiden IPL trophy on the UAE soil.
