The defending champions Mumbai Indians are a force to reckon with. The team looks solid in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League with every player giving his best in all three facets of the game. They are proudly placed at the top of the points table with seven wins from ten fixtures. On October 23, Friday, MI registered a massive victory against the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Though CSK were the runners-up of the 2019 edition, the two teams have had contrasting fates in the T20 extravaganza thus far.
The Yellow Army is experiencing a torrid run in the 2020 edition and is languishing at the bottom of the points table with just three wins in eleven games. Though they have mathematical chances of qualifying for the playoffs, the writing is pretty much on the walls for them.
Though Mumbai registered a historic win against CSK by 10 wickets, their captain Rohit Sharma wasn’t available for the game. He had suffered a hamstring injury during the game against Kings XI Punjab in the Super Over. As a result, Kieron Pollard was named as the stand-in captain for the defending champions and the batsman Saurabh Tiwary replaced Sharma in the playing XI.
Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag who is known for his wit and humor, took a dig at the fitness of Rohit and Saurabh. Explaining the reason for choosing Tiwary as a potential replacement for the skipper, Sehwag reckoned that Rohit is a vada pav while Saurabh is a samosa pav, therefore only a samosa pav can replace the vada pav.

A summary of MI vs CSK game
As far as the match between MI and CSK at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium was concerned, nothing went in CSK’s favour after they lost the toss and were put in to bat first. The pace duo of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc in the powerplay as they collectively took 5 wickets. At one point in time, even crossing the 100-run mark looked difficult for the Super Kings, however, Sam Curran’s knock of 52 off 47 helped them in posting a total of 114 at the loss of nine wickets.
Mumbai, led by Kieron Pollard, easily chased down 115 with as many as 46 balls to spare. Ishan Kishan emerged as a hero of the run-chase as he played a fire innings of 68* off 37 deliveries. He found an ally in Quinton de Kock who smashed 46* off 37 to clinch the match by 10 wickets.
