IPL 2021: 3 Teams that can give a tough fight to CSK in the tournament
The Super Kings couldn't make the playoffs last time around.
3. Mumbai Indians
No surprises here! Mumbai Indians have been the most successful team in IPL history with five titles and given that all of those have come since 2013, their dominance is there for everyone to see. Having won back-to-back titles, they will now want to break records and win an unprecedented hat-trick of IPL titles.
Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma are one of the best opening combinations in the league, and they even have an excellent backup in the form of Chris Lynn, who might need to fill in for the South African keeper if he is unavailable during the first couple of weeks. Their middle order of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard and the Pandya brothers is arguably the most destructive in the tournament. Three of their batsmen were among the top seven run-scorers last season and all three of them scored at more than 140 per 100 balls.
With Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile as their primary seamers, they have a well-rounded pace attack. Adam Milne is also an excellent backup and apart from Boult, who is more of a new-ball specialist, they have three gun bowlers who can bowl at any stage. Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya complement each other quite well during the middle overs as Pandya keeps things tight while Chahar is more attacking and picks up wickets.
