2. AB de Villiers
AB de Villiers has been a regular feature in the Indian Premier League since the first season. He started in Delhi Daredevils (later renamed as Delhi Capitals) and stayed there for three seasons. In 2011, he moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he became the mainstay of their batting, taking up multiple roles in the line-up with his batting.
However, with the solid top-order in place, ABD found himself more often than not in difficult situations towards the end of the innings. In the past ten seasons of the IPL, he has been there in those situations and has successfully bailed them out on many occasions. Even in the last season in the UAE, he showed his versatility.
AB de Villiers’ batting has been vital to form a core in the RCB lineup. In 169 matches, he has scored 4849 runs with an average of 40.40. His strike rate during these matches has been 151.91. His ability to play on all sides of the wickets makes him a truly 360-degree player who can play counter-attacking innings during the death overs.
