IPL 2021: 5 players whose careers sparked after leaving CSK

Among all the leagues in the world, the IPL has definitely grown to become arguably the best in the business. With world-class franchises and players, playing in the IPL is definitely a dream come true for players, both Indian and overseas included. Playing in the IPL help players improve their game in many aspects which in turn help them lift their careers. But sometimes it becomes difficult for the players to find an opportunity among big names. If we talk about CSK, they have definitely been one of the most successful sides in the history of the league. They have provided many players with their first break but few players who were a part of the franchise have benefitted after leaving the franchise. In the same manner, let’s take a look at- 5 players whose careers went up after leaving CSK in IPL 1)Chris Morris Chris Morris (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) The fast-bowling allrounder from South Africa who is now a veteran started his IPL journey with CSK in 2013. Chris Morris provided a variety of skillsets to the franchise as a seamer and a finisher. He did have a good start to his IPL journey where he played a total of 16 matches. In those 16 matches he picked 14 wickets and did not bat much. However, he did not play in 2014 and was later picked by the Delhi Daredevils. Since Dwayne Bravo, an established servant for the CSK provided similar skills as Morris, he was side lined quite early in the franchise. After being picked for Delhi, he played 32 games there, picked 39 wickets and scored over 400 runs. He was noticed by many in his stay at the franchise and was later also picked by the Rajasthan Royals. Recently, he also became the most expensive overseas buy in the history of the league. 2)Vijay Shankar Vijay Shankar. (Photo: Kuntal Chakrabarty/IANS) Vijay Shankar has risen over the ranks in the recent years and also made his India debut in 2018. But, to the surprise of many, he has also played for the Chennai Super Kings in the year 2014. At that time, he was a young lad, finding his place in the world of cricket. He got a chance to play only single match that season where he gave away 19 runs off his only over and did not get a chance to bat. He was released by the franchise and was later picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he played 4 games only. It was with the Delhi Daredevils that he got major recognition for his talent. He also made his India debut by then where he played well but could not secure his place there for a long time. He is currently a part a of the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he plays as a senior all-rounder. 3) Wriddhiman Saha Wriddhiman Saha of SRH. (Photo Source: Twitter) The wicker-keeper from Bengal is now a veteran as far as the IPL is concerned. He has been a part of the league since its beginning in 2008. Wriddhiman Saha started his journey with the KKR where he played for 3 years. He played 33 matches for the Knight Riders and was a regular part of the 11. However, he was released by the franchise in 2011 and was picked by CSK. But his stay in the team was not very fruitful for his career as he got an opportunity to play there in only 14 matches across 3 years. He scored only 144 runs in those matches and went unnoticed. He got his IPL career on the right track when he was picked by the Kings XI Punjab in 2014. He became a regular keeper-batsman for the side and played as many as 57 matches in 4 years. He scored 1115 runs and affected 48 dismissals as a keeper. His most memorable innings was his century in the 2014 edition final, an unbeaten 115. He currently plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad who picked him in 2018. 4)Samuel Badree Samuel Badree. (Photo by Ashley Allen – CPL T20 via Getty Images) The Caribbean wrist spinner was one of the top bowlers in T20 cricket few years back. Samuel Badree has been a part of the IPL too for few seasons. He started his IPL journey with the Rajasthan Royals and joined the Chennai Super Kings in 2014. While he was a part of the franchise, he played only 4 games picking up merely 2 wickets. With world-class spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin already in the team, he could not remain in the team for long. As a result of his performances in international T20 cricket, he was picked by RCB in 2017, where he was an instant success. In his debut match for RCB, he got a hattrick in the second over of his spell. The opposition was the mighty MI and the wicket he got of his hattrick ball was the hitman Rohit Sharma. He ended his spell with figures of 4/9 in 4 overs. He was a part of the franchise for that season but did not a play a game thereafter. 5)George Bailey George Bailey IPL. (Photo Source: Twitter) Australian batsman and former captain George Bailey was a part of the league since 2009. He was first picked by CSK at his base price in 2009. He was associated with the franchise for 2 years but could play only 4 matches in total. He failed to impress in those matches and was released by the team. It was then in 2014 that he was picked by the Kings XI Punjab (now PBKS). He was made the captain of the side which changed fortunes, both for him and the franchise. He led them to their maiden IPL final and the team impressed many with their performance. He played there in 2015 too but the team could not repeat the heroics. Later he joined the Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 where he played only a few matches. After that he was not much in the reckoning in the IPL.
