Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has put forth his predictions for Tuesday’s doubleheader in the 2021 Indian Premier League. To start with, he shared his views on the day’s opening match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Even as DC are sitting pretty with eight wins, the Knights are gasping for breath with eight points from 10 games. KKR will be going into the game on the back of a two-wicket defeat at the hands of the Chennai Super Kings at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Aakash Chopra shares his opinions

For the upcoming game, Chopra said that spinners will play a massive part. “Spinners to take five plus wickets,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel. Both teams have some quality tweakers in their ranks, including Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel among others.

Chopra said that irrespective of the nature of the pitch, both teams will hit a combined tally of more than eight sixes. “Eight plus sixes in the game,” he stated.

The veteran also felt that scoring in the powerplay will be crucial and run-making won’t be easy against the old ball. ”First 10 overs to produce more runs than the back 10,” he added.

Last, but not the least, he predicted KKR to win the game. ”Kolkata to win the match,” Chopra said.

The second game is scheduled to take place between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi. For the match, Chopra felt that one of the four openers will get a half-century. “One opener to score 50 plus runs,” Chopra said.

Chopra said that the both teams will score in excess of 90 runs, combined, in their first six overs. “Powerplay overs to see 90 plus runs,” he stated.

Chopra backed the leg-spinners to come good as well. “Leg-spinners to pick up three plus wickets,” Chopra said. Rahul Chahar and Ravi Bishnoi are the leggies, who are likely to be on show during the encounter.

Although MI have lost three matches on the trot in the UAE leg of the tournament, Chopra backed them to come out trumps against the KL Rahul-led team. “Mumbai to win the match,” Chopra added
