IPL 2021: Ajinkya Rahane sports new look ahead of the season
Ajinkya Rahane has got rid of his bearded look ahead of IPL 2021.
Ajinkya Rahane will be desperate to hit the ground running in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Playing for Delhi Capitals, the right-handed batsman had a forgettable campaign in the last edition of the tournament. Before the start of the season, Delhi Capitals had traded him from Rajasthan Royals.
But the change in the team did not change his fortunes with the bat as he struggled for consistency in his first-ever season with the Delhi-based outfit. While Delhi had a memorable season that saw them make it to the final for the first time in their story, Rahane struggled throughout the season. He also struggled to be a part of playing eleven of the team regularly.
Overall, he played 9 games and managed to score 113 runs. Out of those 113 runs, 60 came in one innings. Rahane scored his runs at a poor average of 14.12 and a strike-rate of 105.60. The right-handed batsman would be definitely desperate to show that the poor season was a one-off by doing well in IPL 2021.
Ajinkya Rahane’s new look
With an eye on starting the IPL on a fresh note after the poor campaign last year, Ajinkya Rahane has decided to enter the competition with a new look. After keeping the bearded look for years, Rahane will be sporting a clean-shaven look in IPL 2021. Delhi Capitals, on Friday, took to Twitter to post a picture of Rahane in his new look and asked the fans to rate the star batsman’s look.
Here is the tweet from Delhi Capitals:
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have suffered a huge injury blow ahead of IPL 2021. Their skipper and batting mainstay Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the entire competition due to a shoulder injury. Iyer suffered the injury while fielding during the first ODI between India and England earlier this week. In the last two editions, Iyer led Delhi to the playoffs on both occasions.
Delhi Capitals are yet to announce their new captain for the upcoming season. According to reports, Rishabh Pant is likely to don the captain’s hat for the team in Iyer’s absence. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and Ravichandran Ashwin are also in the race to become the captain.
