IPL 2021: Ambati Rayudu's six breaks the fridge in the Mumbai Indians dugout
Ambati Rayudu hit seven big sixes during his breath-taking innings.
Chennai Super Kings’ Ambati Rayudu scored 72* runs from 27 balls against Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2021 league match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. It was absolute carnage while the batsman was on the crease. It was his knock that propelled Chennai to a first-inning score of 218 for 4 in their 20 overs.
During his knock, the CSK batsman smashed four fours and seven massive sixes. But, one six was so powerful that it ended hitting one of the fridges kept in the dugout. This one shot did stand out during the inning which was hit by the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah. The video of the incident viral on social media instantly.
The incident happened in the 17th over of the innings when Bumrah was bowling. Rayudu got under the ball and smashed it over the boundary. As the ball was traveling, it went and smashed the glass door of the refrigerator which was there beside the Mumbai Indians dugout. The ball was later called a no-ball and Bumrah paid a heavy price by further conceding a four in the next ball, which was a free hit.
Ambati Rayudu’s knock shocks Mumbai Indians’ bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah
Bumrah had one of his unforgettable days as he was smashed all over the park. He conceded 56 runs in his four overs and managed only one wicket, that of Moeen Ali. Rayudu especially attacked Bumrah during the death and the 17th over by the Indian pacer yielded 21 runs for the Chennai team.
Rayudu arrived at the crease in the 12th over when Faf du Plessis was dismissed. From 112 for 1, CSK slipped to 116 for 4 and the pressure was right back on them. Rayudu controlled the innings from here on and pushed CSK’s run rate after the quick wickets jolted the innings for a while.
His strike rate during the innings was 266.67. He put on a partnership with Jadeja for 102 runs from just 48 balls. As the all-rounder found it difficult to time the ball during his innings, which ended with 22* runs from 22 balls, Rayudu was on the other end, smashing each of the Mumbai bowlers. The video of Rayudu’s six against Bumrah was uploaded by a fan on Twitter.
It was slightly unfortunate that Rayudu’s innings didn’t manage to seal the deal for his side. Mumbai ended up chasing the total of 218 on the back of a tremendous knock by Kieron Pollard, who scored 87* runs from just 34 balls, guiding Mumbai home in the run chase.
