Moeen Ali was one of the biggest purchases during the auction for this season of IPL and quite naturally, big things were expected from him as CSK looked to come back from a dismal campaign in 2020. And, he certainly lived up to the expectations and transformed their team.

CSK was criticized for their lack of intent last season and they often scored at a rather poor run rate. They needed someone who showed intent and scored runs at a quick rate and this is where Moeen has been a massive asset for MS Dhoni’s franchise.

He scored 206 runs in six games at an average of 34.33 while scoring at 157.25. He had just one game where he scored less than 25. The Englishman was handy with the ball as well and picked up 6 wickets at a strike rate of 14.4 while conceding at just 6.16.

He was among the frontrunners in the race to become the Most Valuable Player and thus, walks into this team.
