IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings' new jersey unveiled ahead of the season by Myntra
Chennai Super Kings will be eyeing a fresh start in IPL 2021 after poor outing in the last season.
After a disastrous outing in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings will be desperate to bounce back in the upcoming season of the competition. The MS Dhoni-led side never really hit the top gear in IPL 2020 and eventually finished at the seventh spot in the eight-team competition.
They failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in the history of IPL. CSK were the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs race and were looking set to end the season at the bottom of the points table. However, they managed to avoid the last place finish after winning their last three league games. Overall, they managed six wins in 14 league games.
The three-time IPL winners will be eyeing a fresh start to the season after the disastrous campaign last year. And ahead of the brand new season, the Chennai-based outfit’s new jersey has been unveiled. The new jersey was unveiled by their new sponsor Myntra. It all started when CSK’s official Twitter handle posted a simple tweet, writing: ‘Aaramikalangala?’ (which roughly translates to: Shall we start)
Minutes later, Myntra posted a picture of the new jersey in reply to CSK’s tweet. In the new jersey, the name of the previous sponsors The Muthoot Group and their logo has been replaced by Myntra’s name and logo.
Here is the tweet from Myntra showing CSK’s new jersey:
Well, CSK and their fans will be hoping that the new jersey prove lucky for them as the team looks to turn things around on the field. The schedule for IPL 2021 has been announced. The fourteenth edition of the competition will start on April 9 while the final is scheduled to take place on May 30. CSK will open their campaign on April 10.
CSK’s squad for IPL 2021:
CSK have bolstered their squad ahead of the new season with some new signings in last month’s auction. Karnataka all-rounder K Gowtham was their costliest player as they splashed a whopping Rs 9.25 crore to secure his services. CSK also went big for England all-rounder Moeen Ali and bought him for Rs 7 crore.
The other players bought by them were Cheteshwar Pujara, Harishankar Reddy, Bhagath Verma and Hari Nishaanth. CSK will be also bolstered by the return of senior batsman Suresh Raina. The southpaw as well as Harbhajan Singh had pulled out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. Raina was later retained by the franchise while Harbhajan was released.
