IPL 2021: David Warner reveals favourite moments in his eventful journey with SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) endured one of their worst seasons in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise finished last and won only three games in the 14 completed games spanning across India and the UAE leg of the tournament. The consistency which has been seen in the team for several years in the IPL was missing this year.

It all started with David Warner being sacked as the skipper of the team in the India leg of IPL. A lot of eyebrows were raised as the southpaw has been instrumental in several of the team’s victories and was pivotal in SRH winning the title in the 2016 edition of the IPL. Warner’s indifferent form, coupled with some lack of communication with the management was cited as one of the primary reasons.

The India leg of the IPL came to halt due to COVID-19 and the IPL was postponed to September. Few thought the break from the game would have helped Warner recover his lost form, but that was not to be. The southpaw got to play two games and then was dropped from the team. This was also by and large his worst performance with the bat as he scored just 195 runs in eight games.

The worst was when he was sidelined by the management in the UAE leg and was confined to stands to cheer for the team.  And now, David Warner has shared a post on his official Instagram account confirming his end with SRH. In the 10 pictures shared by the former SRH captain, he wrote a heartfelt tribute and thanked the SRH fans for the love and support they have shown for the team. His last picture from the post has fans waving the SRH flags passionately.

Warner’s record for SRH is second to none. Since the time he has made his debut for SRH in the season 2014, the southpaw has scored 4014 runs in 95 games. He was also the leader of the team since 2015. His blistering starts upfront for SRH won games singlehandedly and invariably from any improbable situations. Warner was also a crowd favorite due to his jolly attitude.
