Can’t wait.” After helping the franchise to their first final finish in the cash-rich league last year, Ponting would be hoping to become champions with the Delhi franchise. The 46-year-old has previously won a championship as a coach with Mumbai Indians in 2015.

Ahead of the 14th edition of the IPL, the Delhi Capitals have landed in a grave problem. Shreyas Iyer, who has led the franchise since the mid-season of the 2018 IPL, suffered a serious shoulder injury during the ODI series between India and England. His injury has ruled him out of the entire IPL 2021 and it will be a thing to see who will lead the franchise.
Delhi Capitals will open their campaign of the 14th edition of IPL with a match against Chennai Super Kings in Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It has been speculated that Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Rishabh Pant are in recurring to become the captain of the Delhi Capitals franchise. Delhi Capitals had a terrific run in the IPL 2020 in the UAE. They played some really good cricket to get to the final, where they, unfortunately, lost to Mumbai Indians.
