Pant was handed over the responsibility to be the skipper of the team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer.
The second leg of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence from September 19 in the UAE. Ahead of the start of the tournament, Delhi Capitals have announced that the team will continue with Rishabh Pant as their captain for the remainder of the IPL.
In the Indian leg of the IPL, Pant was handed over the responsibility to be the skipper of the team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. Iyer had to undergo shoulder surgery after he injured himself in the home series against England. Owing to this injury he missed the IPL which was cut short as Covid hit the camps of several franchises.
However, Iyer is now recovered completely from the injury and seemed to be perfectly fit to feature in the remainder of the IPL. This brought the talks of Delhi Capitals captaincy into the limelight. There were speculations that as Iyer has returned fit from the injury, he might lead the team in the UAE leg of the IPL. But the franchise has made an official announcement and ended all the questions swirling in the wind.

The Tweet received a lot of reactions from Twitter users.
Under Pant, Delhi Capitals had a splendid run in the first leg of the Indian Premier League. The team is currently placed at the top of the points table with 12 points to their account. Delhi Capitals have won six matches from the eight they have played in the tournament so far. The team has thus decided to continue with the star keeper-batter as the captain.
Pant would be all raring to take the charge of the field for the Delhi Capitals and make an impact for the side. He is a pivotal part of the Indian side and will be keen to get some form to his side ahead of the high-profile event of the T20 World Cup.
